A hay field at sunset. I used my Sigma 24-70 f2.8 because I like the lens flare it produces although I did have to tone it down a bit. 3 exposures blended for the ideal dynamic range.

I just had to capture the clouds rolling over the top of the mountains giving the signature Smokies look. Manually blended 3 exposures for more dynamic range.

Marc, you have a lot of new photos up since the last time I checked your galleries on PN and Im impressed! This one stands out to me in particular. The footprints make the shot, they just lead you right into the picture. Congrats on yet another masterpiece!

Thanks for the compliments. Douglas, I appreciate your suggestion, it really is a helpful one. I was working and on my way to another location when I pulled off to the side of a little country road and walked up to the fence at the edge of this field to snap a picture. Maybe next time Ill look more closely at something to fill the foreground with. I think it was the cloudiness and awesome lighting that forced me to stop and take a picture, so I admit that the foreground just wasnt on my mind at the time. Thanks for the tip.

Thank you for the compliment. I agree with you, HDR can easily either be done very well or very poorly. For this shot I actually merged the HDR, then did separate levels adjustments for the car and background to make it stand out and give a more shiny reflective look against the darker background. Essentially what you might accomplish with lighting equipment to balance the light, only using available light and multiple exposures and separate adjustments for the subject and background.

I think if it were possible to darken the sky a bit, this would be an excellent photo! I like the composition and the colors, just not the blown sky. Regardless, great picture none the less!
