Speedlight is Nikon. Canon is Speedlite.

1- Are Tokina lenses generally better than Sigma? What about this future Tokina 12-24? Is it in their High End series?
2- Has anyone heard of such a lens by Canon?
Thanks

Not bad according to the March 2004 issue of Chasseur d'Images. It got a 3 (lost points in vigneting and edge sharpness) while my good old 17-40/4L got a 4 on their 1 to 4 scale.
I'm hesitant to purchase non-Canon lenses because I keep my lenses longer than my bodies; what guarantee is there of future compatibility?
If only Canon would come out with a 12-40/4L or 12-36/2.8L...

Which Digital Rebel? Which 10D?
My 10D focuses perfectly. So do most of them. The ones that do not focus right can be adjusted by Canon, under warranty, and all 10Ds are still under warranty.

I wanted a 70-200/4L IS lens too and ended up buying the 70-200/2.8L IS lens, and I don't regret my purchase. I'm starting to like taking pictures at f/2.8...
If you want, you could wait for the coming Canon 70-300 DO IS lens, but nobody has tested it yet... If it's good, I'll buy one for when I don't need shallow depth of field, because it'll be small and light.

David,
With time, what will wear out, the lens's flange or the lens hood, or both?
Thanks

If, by internal, you mean the back of the lens, I suggest you clean it and forget about it. Some lens cleaning fluid and a Canon (joking ;-)) lens cleaning cloth will do.
If, by internal, you mean inside the lens, then return it.

Any tests out?

Mine's perfect, even at f/1.4 on my 10D, which proves that my 10D doesn't have the "10D's focus problem".

The higher amperage the better. This is the capacity of the battery to last, not its voltage, which is 7.4 Volts.

Canon's 17-40/4L does it for me.

Rui,
I have chosen the Canon 17-40/4L and I really like its sharpness.
When you have a choice, I suggest you buy Canon lenses to lessen the risk of incompatibility with your next camera.
Have a nice trip. I'll be bringing mine to Alaska in June.

"...not to mention the fact that my wife will probably divorce me :-(( In the mean time I make do with the slower sisters."
Did you mean your wife's slower sisters? ;-))

I have the 50/1.4 and I like it very much.
The L Zoom lenses I have (17-40/4L, 24-70/2.8L and 70-200/2.8L IS) are about as good, even though they're zoom lenses, because they're L lenses.

Melissa,
This is very nice of you. Thank you very much.

Melissa,
Do you have another wide lens, such as a 15, 16 or 17mm so you could tell me if your 16mm Fisheye lens has a much wider view than a regular 16mm lens, such as my 17-40/4L lens?
What is the difference between the EOS mount lens and the EOS Adapter lens?
Thanks

Is the 16mm Fisheye sufficiently wider than my 17-40/4L lens to make a real difference?
Probably yes because it's a Fisheye?
Thanks

Melissa,
Is this the whole picture or was ir cropped?
Were the lines corrected in any way?
Thanks

I use lens hoods. They protect the lenses from rain, dust and fingers, and they also reduce glare and increase contrast, something filters do not always do.

The only thing I don't like is the inconvenience of having to use the step-down ring, and then having to use a rubber band to take it off.
I'm thinking of selling my 72mm lens and getting the 77mm lens.

I'm starting to think of getting either a 8mm Peleng Fisheye or 16mm
Zenitar Fisheye to use on my EOS 10D, for fun. I like extreme wide-
angle lenses, and don't mind the distortion for special effect shots.
I understand these are Fisheye lenses, but with the 1.6X Crop Factor
on the 10D, I wonder what remains of the Fisheye effect.

It doesn't seem to on my 70-200/2.8L IS Lens.
However, I've been thinking that the step-up/down adapters put the 500D lens's focus point farther from the surface of the lens, and it might change something in magnification or focus distance?

I also have a 10D and a 70-200/2.8L IS lens, and I'm careful not to let the camera support the lens, not horizontally at least.
I'm afraid it could deform the body, which would then affect focus.

Most of the time, using a bulb blower will be enough.
