  1. I have been been shooting for years with my 20D and the 17-55is canon lens and have decided it is time to enter the 21st century. My situation is that my need for this camera is limited to one shot that I have taken thousands of times over 15 years under a full range of natural lighting conditions. The shot is a mountain whose peak is a few miles away from my home and which I have been blessed to view full on from my kitchen (with 2 ridges in between and no houses). The collection of photos is something I would like to print/publish at some point and, as I am in my 60's, I figure I might as well proceed with the best camera/lens I can reasonably afford for this. I am not a pro photographer. I generally shoot with the zoom set at 17mm (EF-S) and could use a fixed lens in a new setup. The shot faces west from the camera and one challenge is to get detail in the mountain when direct light on the mountain is lost but the sky is still bright. I do have a stable tripod, though it could be better. I am looking at all of the Canon SLR camera options but am open to anything. My budget is max at about $3500, assuming I sell the 17- 55is lens, but I would be happy to spend less! I need just a one trick pony, but just don't know which one will do the trick best! Thanks for any thoughts/ideas! Rick
