<p>I would recommend an Apple Pro Training Series book " Aperture 2 " by Ben Long. It will give you hands on training in Aperture 2.<br>
It has helped me a lot.<br>

Laminate the images with 1 to 3 mil laminate before glueing to the board.

In Aperture's print dialog box select print settings and you will find where to turn off the cover page also try changing the profile under colorsync
profile.

Use an iPod to store photos - you will need a card reader. This is what my son used on a trip to Italy about 5 yrs ago.

The specs on p3200TMX are that it can be pushed to 25000. Has anyone tried this and what were the results?

I have a Mac G5 and a few thousand photos and I use Aperture. The one feature that sold me was the ability to access the same photo
library with two macs over my wifi network. I do most of the work and my wife can make changes from her ibook. This is not available in
Lightroom.

There is an applescript to change file or folder names. Look under Applications/Applescript/Example Scripts/Finder Scripts and the script
that you want is "Replace Text in Item Names.scpt" . Just double click and run the script. I keep it on my desktop so that it is handy.

I use Aperture using a wireless router as a network. You store your photos on one mac and the second mac can use the same Aperture
library. The last time I checked Lightroom does not allow this over a network. I do not know about Bridge. 6500 photos and counting.

I have scanned 1500 - 2000 neg. with vuescan with very few problems. Using the frame
offset of 0.298 and frame spacing of 0 and crop size set to auto works the best for me. the
only problem I have had was with Kodacolor II which has holes between the sprockets
which screws up the offset. Had to reverse scan the neg. strip ie. 4-1 instead of 1-4.

Two things to try.
First reset your permissions - use your install disk and after you boot from the CD go to the
utilities and select reset permissions.
Second reset your pram by restarting your mac and when the black screen comes up press
the apple - option - p - r keys all at once and hold them down until you hear the second
bong and then release letting the computer boot. Hope this works for you.

Try a solvent that is not water soluble like lighter fluid or charcoal liter fluid.

You should check out the products at inkaid.com for your foil problem.

In Vuescan click Perf and under it will be a box for External viewer. Check the box and a
selection box appears which is probably on default. Change to what ever program you
would like to use as a preview. If you don"t want a preview then deselect the External
viewer box which is what I do when scanning large amounts of slides. Without the viewer
the scan will be written to disc.
On the second problem I agree that you should scan at the highest dpi to get the most
information from your negatives. As far as the file size check under the Output that the
TIFF box is checked and not the JPG box.

First let us define what an ink is - a fluid that has a colorant (pigment or dye) + binder +
solvent ( water or carbon based) + additives.
Pigment is a dry powder - dye is soluble is the solvent.
Binder holds the pigment together and sticks to the substrate.
Solvent controls the viscosity of the ink.
Additives help the ink wet out the paper, film, and foil.
Ink jet printers usually use water based ink which will wet out and adhere to paper and
some films but will not wet out and adhere to foil substrates unless they are treated.
Solvent based inks (hydrocarbon, alcohol, ketone etc. ) will have better wetting and
adhesion to foil substrates.
A pigment ink can be water based or solvent based and is much more permanent than dye
based ink. Pigmented ink would be recommended for outdoor use and probably should be
coated with a good UV resistant clear.
If you want to use the Canon printer then you will have to find a foil that will accept the
Canon ink ( wet and adhere to it ).
Hope this helps.
