1.
Only because you say you normally have a good amount of light I would say try the 15-85. I personally have the 17-55 and I do love the lens. If you have been getting by with the two lens that you have you should be fine with the 15-85 however all I see you gaining is the USM. If you want to gain more than just USM and actually get pretty darn sharp photos I would get the 17-55. It should be called an L lens. Then again, if you ever want to upgrade to a FF camera, you won't be able to use this lens. (thats where I'm at now) I would bet a lot of people are there right now which is also an advantage to people looking to buy this lens. you should start seeing a lot of these on sale used for about $300-400 savings.

  2.
Thank you for your response. One thing I forgot to mention, and another thing I forgot to ask.... First, I guess I could sell my 10-17 2.8 if I got a full frame and because I have a 17-55 2.8. Am I correct with that? Also, is there that much difference in HIGH ISO between the 5dM2 and the 7D?

  3.
I have two XTI's I am selling one. I also have all 2.8 glass L lens. In all honesty I don't have the time I used to, to compare models. Most of you know they differences without looking anymore. I have been planning on buying the 7D until I read the 5DM2 is much better in higher ISO. I know both are going to be better than my XTI. Its the only thing I don't like about the XTI. I also know that the 5D was always a great camera and now with this upgrade I would assume its even better. I would love to have the frame rate that is on the 7D but honestly, I don't do much that requires it. I think my most important factor is that I want better ISO quality. That leaves me with another con. Full Frame. I know most people love it but I have never shot with it and personally I like the fact I have the extra reach. Someone just help me make up my mind. Or better yet, someone from Canon please let me know that the next camera that comes out is going to have the best of both worlds, frame rate, better focusing system, more focus points, and excellent high ISO quality. One last favor, when will the next model be available?
Thanks everyone.

  4.
Personally I have my 17-55 2.8 on one body and I have 70-200 2.8 on the other body. I also like using the 11-17 2.8 for the wide shots. The 11-17 2.8 Tokina is a nice lens for the price. Its great for the crop body and gives you a real wide angle. You are going to need more than one lens for a wedding and you will def. need more than one camera body.

  5. Atleast i will learn from my major mistake here. I had the camera meter on the black shirts and not their faces.

therefore they look like ghosts. If someone can PLEASE help me with how to edit these. i have 9 that i need to

retouch. i have tried curves, selective color, and color balance. but haven't gotten a good result. i'm asking

if you can fix this photo and explain to me what you did. i'm pretty positive that i will be able to do what you

did to all 9 of the photos as they all look a like. here is a small pic. and then also a link to the full res.

file. Thank you so much for anyone willing to help out. i truly appreciate it.

  6. hello all,

i have a client coming into the studio that i rent for jobs. husband wife and 3 month old baby. they want one

specific picture. the husband has tattoo arm sleeves and wants a black and white photo of him shirtless holding

their baby. i can picture this photo cause i know i have seen it before. of course now i can't find any since i

am looking for one. my question is on the lighting. like i said i am renting the studio and have full access to

a main with a soft box and fill with umbrella 2 background lights and a hair light. can anyone point me in a

direction i may wanna start with for a lighting set up. luckily for me the app. is at 6:30 pm and i have an

assistant coming @ 4pm with me to help set up and try the lights out before they get there. i'm just hoping for

a diagram or something to help me get started. i'm sure most of you have seen this type of photo before or can

atleast picture in your mind what i am talking about. thank you in advance for your time and effort also, if

you have any photos of what i am talking about and don't mind sharing i would love to see them and how you came

up with them. i know that is a lot to ask for though.

  7. of course it all depends how the lighting is at the stadium. but try ISO 1600 shoot f2.8 @ 320sec. don't bother bringing your sigma. you paid good money for that canon 2.8 so use it! as for flash. the 430 will work. i personaly think you should TRY it and see what you think looking at with flash and without flash. but the settings i just listed should work just fine without the flash. if you add the flash maybe give yourself an f-stop of 3.2 or 4. of course your shutter (sync) speed will only be 200.

on a side note, and not to be rude about it. that photo of the running back high stepping over the defender would have been an awesome shot!

  8. thank you very much for your responses. i just re-read what i wrote and i see how you may think that i have had the images online. actually i haven't but i was about to buy an online gallery in order to make it easy to sell the prints. i will however get back with the school again and see what we can do about it. i did already let the booster club know that i will give a dollar or 2 for every order i get.

thanks guys. (and good point about the logo!)

  9. i am doing highschool football pictures for my old high school football team. it was under my assumption i was

able to sell the prints from their website that they are using them for. well after 4 weeks of shooting the pics

they are telling me we have to wait till the end of the year and only ask parents of the kids that are in the

pictures because none of the kids signed anything saying that i would take their pics. the school is afraid that

i may be breaking the law if i make a profit from the pictures I took!

does anyone know the rule about this? or know where i can direct the school to look to let them know they can

safely put a link to my online ordering photo gallery?

    thank you

  10. on a second note. i like the fact that Bob Bernardo has posted this. because Bob is someone i like reading posts from. and for him to question being a pro after 20 years of expeirence....wow, he values his work and strides to get better all the time. IMHO Bob is asking himself this question when he says. "Also for the advanced photographers, what do you feel you need to call yourself a pro?"
  11. i know this might be a little off subject but, i've only read about 2 and a half of these posts and i am seeing. "people with a rebel and people with a canon xt. etc... first of all i thought it wasn't the camera that makes the photo its the photographer. i personaly use 2 canon xti's. i guess lucky for me noone has said. we're not hiring you, you only use a rebel.

don't get me wrong i know when living in bigger cities and having much more competition then i have here i would maybe have to step up my camera body. also don't get me wrong. i would LOVE to have a mark III. but i'm happy with my two xti's and i haven't had complaints that my camera doesn't produce beautiful work. my next purchase will be a 50d. maybe then i can consider myself half-pro?

  12. hi everyone. i am doing my first high school football game tonight. only question i have is what to expect to

set my white balance on? i wish i had an expo disc but don't. i hear they work wonders for custom settings. so

with stadium lights i know there are different kinds but anyone have any idea about 2 or three different types of

lights i may incounter. i can afford to play around a little at first but i was looking at what setting i should

    try first. thanks guys.
