Hi, your question is similar to my previous post... I hope someone would answer... From other posts I've found that NEC MultiSync LCD2090UXi could be a good competitor of your mentioned EIZO S2031W-BK, despite the fact that EIZO's model is widescreen and NEC's one is not. But NEC provides a Photo Edition with software and colorimeter to calibrate and profile its monitor and I think that such a bundle is highly recommended if you want to build a "strong" CMS.

Edmundo, do you think that Imac monitor is good for photography? Does it match the quality of Apple Cinema Displays?

Thanks folks, but what about the glossy screen surface of Apple Cinema Displays? Could it be a critical aspect regarding monitor placement in the room (e.g. with a window behind your shoulders....)?

Thank you Ziggy and you are very lucky to get a CG241W: it might be stunning!
Thank you Andrew, as well: I know NEC SpectraView displays and I agree with you, but they are "PRO" solutions, out of my budget!
What I did mean is if someone uses less expensive EIZO (or NEC) displays for photo editing and how they can be calibrated and profiled.

Hi to everybody and thanks in advance for your suggestions.
I'm an Italian amateur photographer and I'm going to upgrade my "digital
darkroom"... I need a good LCD monitor for photo editing and general purposes
(no video or games) and I'd like to build a color managed workflow, starting
calibrating my monitor. I'm oriented to EIZO monitors, although my budget can't
exceed 1000 USD and I can't afford the expensive ColorEdge models.
But, I still have some doubts:
1) Is FlexScan models suitable for amateur photo editing? Any suggestions about
specific models?
2) Are there special requirements about calibrating a 10 bit LUT in the
monitor's hardware? I know that usually calibration process affects video
graphic card 's LUT...
Thanks to everybody who would gime me some informations.
Regards,
Alberto.
Graphic Card and NEC LCD2190UXI Photo Edition
in The Digital Darkroom: Process, Technique & Printing
Posted
Hi folks, after reading many threads and articles I'm building (in my mind
still now) my ideal digital darkroom... One crucial aspect was the choice of
the display: I'm oriented to NEC LCD2190UXI Photo Edition (thanks to Andrew
Rodney and his suggestions) because of its quality and the bundle Spectraview
software + colorimeter (any comments? ;-). An Intel Core Duo based PC with
plenty of RAM should work well (I know MAC advantages but I need a PC), but...
any suggestions about a suitable graphic card? What requirements have I to look
for?
Thanks in advance to your suggestions!
Regards, Alberto.
