The sky would be the hardest here. My guess is that a single take was used and processed twice to blend in the properly exposed elements. I get similar results using a yellow filter in Nik silver efex pro. (I wish my results were similar:)

This is a tough one because not every browser is color managed. Safari and Chrome are but Internet Explorer is not. If multiple people are viewing from multiple locations your "best bet" is sRGB but always understand that the colors WILL vary. Assuming all of the browsers are the same you still have to be concerned with each and every monitor calibration of the multiple viewers. Kind of like trying to nail Jell-0 to the wall :)

Also, you may want to make sure you are not shooting in high-sync mode (located on the back of the flash). Similiar to Nikon's FP or focal plane mode this will cause a full dump when you are shooting in almost any situation. This in turn causes longer recycle times, missed shots, and prematurely spent batteries. The most tragic of these though would be the missed shots.

I think that this is AMAZING! Thanks for sharing.

Music can be a subjective thing but overall I am impressed with the quality of the site and the pictures on the site. Other photographers are the toughest critics but I bet that the clients are more than happy with your work.(they should be)

Very nice.

Couldn't agree more. I have seen some AMAZING pictures done with a point and shoot camera.

I have the 16-35 and the 70-200 and only wish that I had the 24-70 to fill in the middle. For what it's worth the 70-200 is light years better than the 16-35 for portraits or at least 3/4 shots. The 16-35 can give some barrel distortion when you least want it in portraits but can be very cool for those dreamy bending landscape shots.

Do the ends justify the means? NO........simply put, no. Their has also been talk of the 50d being sharper than the 5d markII which is true because of the pixel density but in either discussion we find ourselves splitting hairs. The real measure that is not talked about much is dynamic range and in that department the D700 edges out most of the competition with the new D3 fx in front of all. (my 5d markII is very respectable though, thank you very much!)

Looks like Bill Clark has got this one figured out. No need to stress yourself. Consider the Dale Carnegie style approach, you could actually benefit from giving the money back while extending your condolences to their situation.
The fact that you posted this question proves to me that you care.

I use a macbook pro 2.4 duo core with 4g or ram. I have a 500g time machine backup and a 500g photo archive backup for redundancy.

I think I know where this inquiry is pointed. I did a family shoot at a park and the mom wanted to see one of the pictures of her daughter. I showed it to her and later found that it was not focused sharp enough for my standards. I excluded it from my post presentation and was hounded about it. Even after explaining to the mom that it was not that "good" of a pic she insisted on seeing it again. I finally gave in (I will delete next time) and showed her despite the out of focus nature of the shot she liked and wanted to order it. I really did not want to let her display it as my work but I eventually just got over it. That was a while ago and the LCD screen was not nearly as big or sharp as the one on my newer camera.

Love my mark II but....... Just be aware that photoshop must be upgraded to cs4 and lightroom must be upgraded to lightroom 2. I was so excited to get my camera that I overlooked these facts and had to resort to "jpeg only" shooting until I could upgrade and unlock the power of raw. Having made these adjustments I can't say enough about the performance of my mark II. Good luck

Canon's dirty little secret. I had to upgrade to CS4 and Lightroom 2. Without a 5.2 raw converter it's much harder to harness the power of the mark II.

It comes down to angle of incidence. This subject was covered well on a Strobist blog video. Basically imagine bouncing a ball in the absence of gravity with the ball originating from the flash and bouncing off the subject. Simply suggesting that light rebounds or reflects much the same as a ball bounces. Keeping this in mind you can adjust your setup prior to shooting. However the difficulty is raised when you have multiple subjects with glasses and heads turned in different angles. As usual, easier said than done.

To some degree the megapixel showdown is moot. The next big meaningful advances in digital will be in dynamic range. No real evidence to support my claim but either way...... you heard it here first.

Colonial Hobbies in Orlando has them also. I recently traveled and forgot my charger with my extra battery. You think that finding a battery is hard to do, try finding an OEM charger....... not happening. Luckily the Mark II lasts forever on a fully charged battery. My wife eventually overnight shipped the charger to me but I got a brief taste of the scarcity that surrounds this camera and it's accessories. In California the Best Buy store in Hollywood was the only store that stocked the camera.

My 16-35 takes pictures like that on my full frame.

I bought mine at Colonial hobbies. They are the "go to" store in town. Trust me.

How much did she quote for the gigs? The fact that she would be willing to give up SIX gigs tells me that she is most likely low-balling her services and passing the savings on to you :) I.E. if she gave up one gig, I would be less worried.
If she is a "real" photographer and in need of money she should creatively market herself and try to book more photography.
Bottom line here is that you are justified and correct. Some people have a warped sense of reality and are so selfish the actually believe that a complete stranger should jump at the chance to be at their disposal. Let her "sink" and "swim" away.

I'm curious. Todd knows that he needs a Mac? Kind of a loaded question. I have worked with an entry level Dell before and
recently upgraded to a Macbook pro 2.4 15". Could I get the job done with my Dell? Yes. Could I have saved hours and
hours of my time if I had been using a Mac? Yes.
Love my Mac.
Not going back

Also, the 24-70 gives the illusion of zooming "in" when you are actually zooming out. The hood helps
conceal this sometimes imposing aspect of this lens.
