OK...Nikon said nothing wrong...he processed RAW image in Nikon NX and CS3 and saw no color shift. I started playing with the camera calibration in LR2 and found that camera neutral setting was the culprit ( counter intuitive as it 's not "neutral") Adobe standard or just ACR 4.6 eliminates it. Finally, it occured to me that shooting over the ocean at dawn or dusk includes green and magenta hues which were just being accentuated...I think.
Thanks for your comments and any further input would be appreciated

Thanks to both of you! Yes it is the 14-24...had not yet noticed if it is just that lens but I think I have seen it with my 70-200 as well...I have sent the question to Nikon...I at first thought it was only shadows...may be...but shows up in clouds ...sand ...things with not much contrast...maybe it is always there and I have not noticed...disconcerting to say the least!!!

I'm starting to notice this pink and green in my pics...often posterized. I hope their is an easy answer...I'm using camera neutral on my D700...histogram looks fine, 24mm, 1/45, f11
Gokce, Remember the brightest thing in picture draws the eye...ie., sweater or light at end of road...then the nose gets too hot....make the face the focal point...just my 2 cents

While bracketing it sure is tempting to let the camera fire three shots(on
continuous/single) while holding my remote release...versus six button pushes
while set on mirror lock up...but I fear there's a whole lot of shakin' going on
with the easy method...am I crazy?

one more time...I apologize...too hurried...and the advice is to keep trying and reading...it's easier to do in PS3 which I used.

lens blur, mask/hide/brush(white)

One hiccup...Xp32 bit won't recognize/utilize the max 4GB of RAM...can't really explain though confirmed on web. I finally said heck with it and went MACPRO with 8GB's...costly...you bet...worth it...we'll see

I use the same set up with Museo silver rag with excellent results. I have a profile "ultra premium lustre" from Epson...Never could get Museo's profile to work

I've been in your shoes...Bought the 2x TC...don't know why they even make it...then got the 300 F4...Outstanding lens and tried a 1.7 X and it did fine but pushing it...I'd spring for the 300...it's worth it

Pro Show Gold works for me

Huh? Lemme get this straight...it's best to wait for the low ink light to quit flashing before actually changing the cartridge? I usually wait 'til it's below 5% but am always worried about it giving out half way through the print...It comes on below 20%...think they want you to buy ink or what!

I just received word from UPS that Calumet has shipped my D300 to arrive next week!

Thank you both for your help. Joseph that article was very helpful. As is the case the minute I learn one thing, it opens the door on ten other questions! I should have figured my new 300mm lens was the culprit in adding another variable!
Thanks!

Shooting huge flocks of Black skimmers in flight from 20 to 50 yards
(Incredible scene). Shooting with D80 and Nikon 300mm/F4 lens in Shutter
priority (1000/1500 sec)at f4, AF, continuous focus, and continuous shutter
release. The problem is what the camera focuses on ...which bird/s among a
hundered and depth of field...obviously maintaining a high shutter speed is key
so can't stop down. What other camera settings would help capturing this scene
without most of shots focused poorly ie., birds in the center or other part of
flock? Or is this just one of the many challenges?
Thanks a lot!
