  1. Excellent shot. Nice action, sharp focus and good crop. The D3 and 200-400 is quite a capable combo, and you must have had some good support too. I cant help wondering if that marvelous, golden light was reflected up under the wings at all. The D3 NEFs are quite deep. I wonder if you could pull up the shadows a bit. There doesn't seem to be much danger of blowing highlights here.
  2. Hard to find a weak point here. Great eye contact. Great crop. Larger size shows nice detail. Yellows are well rendered. Contrast and DOF are well done. The crown is a bit soft and I can't help thinking something was cloned out on the shoulder area. Nice shot.

Excellent portrait. Black background works well with the dogs color. Nice sharpness and depth to get the eyes and whole muzzle in focus. I do like Jim's crop much more.

All the elements of a great shot are there. I like the flying drops of blood and water. Adds a realistic element to the struggle.
  3. Excellent work. Great composition, focus and DOF. Nice natural background. I actually really like the border. I think it accents the color of the bird. But to each his own.

After seeing all the 4/4s you got for such a nice image I went to check your ratings given. Question answered. That's not the way it's supposed to work, but I guess it does.

  4. Excellent Capture. My personal taste would be to have the bird more toward the bottom of the frame. Otherwise great focus, color and composition. The larger version shows the real quality.

Amazing capture! What a Valentine's Day image the heart in the middle makes. The DOF and focus is the mark of an artist. One of the best nature shots I've seen in a while!

Beautiful image of the hawk, but I feel like I'm missing a lot with the composition. I'd like to see what it's perched on and the image could benefit from giving some more frame to look into. Keep em coming!

Very nice shot Paolo. I like how she seems to be trying to cover up, yet revealing a bit at the same time. Lighting, skin tone and texture looks great. I'm wondering why you used ISO 100 instead of the base ISO which is 200. Could you not turn the lights down a stop or shoot f/11? Perhaps would yield a bit more color depth and smoother graduations.

Nice shot Scott. Good background and nice colors. I like the eye contact. One of my favorite birds for its brilliant contrasty colors, and feisty clatter call.
