I agree with the first post. I think you did a fantastic job. I like the look, lighting, composition and crop. It has lot of dimension, it almost feels 3D. The watch IMO it's an eye sore it does not match the scene.

The long exposure and the man being quite clear made the image very interesting indeed, one can appreciate the calm effect on the water but yet you can also see perfectly clear what is the picture about and in the other hand the logical side of the brain wants to believe the he should be a total blur.

When I first saw the image that effect was what caught my attention the most and once you got my attention into the frame you got me going with all the details.

Best regards on such great shot.

  1. Thanks a lot for your kind words. You know how kids are. My 3 Yr old son made friends with this little guy in a few minutes and they started jumping from the steps down to the ground round and round again. I actually got tired of watching the do that over and over. I took quite a few images of them two and some solo jumps. At the end the one I liked the most is not the one of my kid.

    Boy did they had fun.

    Again thank for your comments.

    Alex.

Gail the reflection on her face it's the one from a flash bouncing out of a white foam board. The iPad itself would not do it.

Jorge all pictures are great but the first one is amazing for many reason and as already mentioned here it truly is a reality check for most of us that might complaint for insignificant things.

    Big hug for you.

Chrystal thanks a lot for your kind words. Quite frankly it is one of my favorite image with my family. After I read your post I got to think why not do this same picture every year and document the growing/aging changes.

Thanks your giving me a great idea.

    Regards,

  2. What a fantastic image. I love the mood and lighting of it a lot. I have not read all the other post but you said about the overhead canopy could be a bit busy. Looking at I think you could be right. Although it does not bother me at all I can see how the top enhance the overall image. I think this would me even more dramatic as a wide/pano image. maybe cropping the top and perhaps stretching the canvas a bit. I guess it's worth a try.

    Congrats on such powerful image.
