  1. I am not a professional so maybe I dont shoot as much as some people, but I LOVE this camera. Todd. let me konw where to send the contribution for supporting making a dye cast and I'll send a big fat check. This is a great travel camera and wonderful for environmental portraits. And there is just something special about the square---and if I want a rectangle I can always crop.
  2. Just moved into 4X5 with a Crown Graphic. Love the camera. Love the

fact I can hand hold it. Mostly interested in B/W. Thought I'd be

satisfied with contact prints. Now I'm really wanting to make larger

prints....well, 8X10 or 11X14 would satisfy me. What are my options?

New enlarger are prohibitively expensive, and a lot of the better

used ones offered on ebay the seller refuses to ship. Do you have

you own enlargers? what models should I be looking for. Anyway to

modify my Omega b22? Any good printers out there I could trust my

negs with (not that they're that good, but I don't want them

scratched/lost). Wouldn't that remove my B/W darkroom control?

I can scan them but digital B/W does not impress me. Any

    suggestions/opinions appreciated. Thanks

  3. In case anyone's still reading this thread: I usually use D:76 1:1 one shot for MF. Just got a new grafix and have a daylight tank that takes 36 oz to develop 6 4X5 negs. I did the first 6 in 1:1 for 11 min, but then ran out of developer, so I souped my next batch 1:2 fo4 16 minutes (just a guess). I haven't printed yet but the negatives look great. If they print easily I may use this formulation from now on---I'm feeling a bit guilty, ecologically speaking, throwing developer down the drain all the time.
  4. Very excited to get my Crown Graflex in the mail yesterday. Managed

to snag some polaroid film and figure out how the holder worked (had

to go on the net just to get the front of the camera open....thanks

to graflex.org!..... Came with a flash and a bunch of bulbs, too,

but I was wondered if anyone had any luck hooking up a modern flash

    unit.

First pic (ambient light) is available in my Crown folder

here on photo.net. Look under Ann Mester

    Comments appreciated.

  5. Ive been developing and printing my own 35 and 6X6 for a couple of

years, and now have a chance at getting a 4X5 camera. If it comes,

I want to be able to develop my own film (probably just print

contact prints and scan till I can afford a bigger enlarger).

I've tried reading through the threads and they are confusing. I am

not interested in purchasing a motor, etc. setup for the occasional

    photos I'm going to shoot.

Question: What's the most efficient, CHEAP way of doing this? I'd

like a daylight tank I can develop maybe 4-6 negs at a time and hand

agitate. Is this possible? I do have a changing tent for

transferring the film to the tank.

  6. As a chick myself (hen?) I'd have to say that I got caught by the Art Deco design of the Kodak Bantam Special. Still getting used to mine but have got some great pics out of it. But the REAL chick magnet were those old Kodaks that came with matching make up cases and lipstick containers---in colors like "sage" and "mauve" I have the classic boring black version of an Art Deco Six-16 (similar camera but without the makeup---much cheaper!). Kodak was marketing cameras to women from early on.
  7. I just got back from a vacation in Spain, and a hand-held Mamiya 6 was my only camera. Because this was a vacation and because I didn't want to carry a lot of weight I only used the 75 mm lens. I'm still processing film, and I'm a rank amateur, but was very pleased with the results. I'll try to attach a photo here but if it's doesn't show up you can see some handheld, no flash, shots inside the Cordoba mezquita, synagogue, and bullfighting museum. Since many places discourage tripods and forbid flash (as it damages pigments) this is a very practical way to go.
  8. I've found sources for 616 film (respooled 70 mm film) but can't

find a source for tanks/reels for developing 70 mm film at home.

Since it's about 1/4 in wider than 120 I doubt I can use my own

tank. Quick search on Adorama and BH didn't reveal any 70 mm reels.

    Any suggestions?

  9. Just got a yummy Kodak art deco Six-16 Improved. Didn't have 616

film lying around, so I used 620 (I do have some Efke 620)(the camera

had a 616 take up reel.)

I used a couple pieces of styrofoam sheeting (the thin kind that fold

like fabric) as a spacer for the 620 roll. Film seemed to advance

ok, so I shot a roll in the backyard and developed them right away.

Not surprised at the light leaks (the top was where the spacers were.

I could make a mask for when I use 120 or 620 film). What DOES

surprise me is that I get impressions of the paper numbers on the

film. (you can see pics on my 6-16 folder here on photo.net if I

can';t figure out how to add a pic to this e-mail.

Could this be because of the red window (I did't shut it every time)

Does the film load on the left or on the right?

Other than learning to focus and judge lighting, what else am I

    missing?

    Thanks!

  10. Thanks for all the comments. To clarify: I wasn't blaming Ilford Films -- I see too many good examples on this site, and wanted to experiment with them. I'll pick up both D76 and XTOL and conduct a couple of experiments. I'd like to keep it simple and find one solution that works for a range of films.
