I must admit that I am struggling to interpret this shot (perhaps that's the intent) Certainly a unique creation. C/

Michael, I liked it before - I like it even more that you have 'fixed' it. Nice work from Peter too. Man - I have sooooo much to learn. C/

Please give me some feedback on composition / settings etc. I loved
my visit to New England and tried to capture at least some of it...C/

Very nice. I'd never heard of 'barrel distortion' but I'll buy into the previous comment. It might make it even better. I've enjoyed your work. Well done. C/

Love it!

As a memory to family, this would be precious. As a portfolio entry it seems to lack something. Perhaps the light is too harsh - maybe we need to catch some of the little girl's face. This is always a challenge with littlies, did you catch any others?... C/

This is nice. Were you close enough for a flash? I feel with a bit of light on the boat and paddler, this would have been an even better shot. The colour is awesome!

This is from my first attempts at outdoor work. I welcome (& need)
your comments. Thanks

This is stunning. I love the fact that you have reversed the balance of the composition to keep the reflection as the main focus of the image. This is really spectaculr and will great on your wall! Well done.

I love what you've done with the colour in this shot. I think this could be better if she had glanced up. I feel the focus becomes the trim on her shirt, rather than the pretty lady. I'd love to see her eyes. With this colour work, you could play with her eyes too and bring out a more spectacular image. R/ Carl

very nice. The foreground provides a different frame for the image too. I think it may have 'stolen' the focus of the image though. Have you got others with the foreground less dominant? Great time of day to go crazy with that camera! :)

I prefer the skin tones and contrast in this shot rather than the other version. This is probably the best of her shots (from your portfolio). Nicely done. I trust she was happy. R/ Carl

Hi Steve, I think the appeal of this shot is the sky - the water does very little for this image. As such, I reckon you should try the old 1/3 2/3 composition with the emphasis on the sky (just my opinion). I love the colour.

fantastic shot. The dramatic effect of the backlighting is perfectly balanced by good exposure and contrast in the faces. I love this.

I think this is pretty good. If you compare it to the outside shot submitted on the same day, I feel the outside is clearly better if only because April has added shape to the shot with a better head angle. This is a little square on both in shoulders and head angle. It makes it a little boring, despite being a nicely lit, pleasant shot. (just my opinion)

Nicole - this is my favouraie of your portfolio. Notwithstanding the great title, a clear close up of a fisherman's hands is a great idea. I can invent my own story with the wonderful detail, lighting and DOF that shows every cut, stain, wrinkle and blemmish in these outstanding fingers. Thanks for showing us. Carl

Phil, you've got a wonderful range of photos in your portfolio. This is no exception. You've been given some harsh rating for this precious shot. I love the natural light, although it may be just a touch too dark (did you use any dedicated lighting?) Perhaps a slightly more textured background could add to this lovely image. Cheers, Carl
