  1. I should have checked my references before submitting this image. My advice came from Joseph TURY, not Toury. My bad, sorry. I'm usually dead-on for spelling - I'm a professional linguist and I'm terribly ashamed of making spelling mistakes.

Wonderful image, but I would have to disagree with Jan - the tire marks ground the viewer in reality and sort of say that angels walk the same earth we do - maybe I'm a weirdo, but I'd keep them. I think it's the tire marks that make this a really unique image - anyone can PS perceived imperfections out of an image, but it's imperfections that make things original and unique. Don't change a thing.
  2. Joseph, thanks for the pointers. I take any advice to heart - and try to learn something new every day. I'm not happy with the sky in this shot either, but that's what the sky looked like when I took the picture. After looking at my digital camera tonight, I'm not sure a polarizer (or any sort of filter) would fit. I can see a screw thread that looks like a filter should fit there, but the fact that the lens retracts and extends...seems to me like a filter would jam the process. I'll take a peek at the manufacturer's website tonight and see if filters were made for that particular model. In the meantime, I have reverted back to using film cameras and have built up a small stable of classics - all of which I have UV filters to fit. Once again - thanks for all the advice.
  3. Reminds me of my childhood in Missouri and Kansas in the early and mid 70's. Tornadoes are one of few natural phenomena to leave you horrified and awestruck at the same time. Excellent documentary capture of the man vs. nature struggle. Wanton destruction, a glimmer of hope, and the human drive to bring order from chaos. Very nice.

Subtle colors and subdued natural light are a nice combo. The way the angle of the driftwood is sort of echoed in the angle of the model's limbs is very nice, too. Overall - nice interplay of geometry, color, light, and texture.

Cool image. Reminds me of growing up in the midwest. I wouldn't want to be the guy that has to turn that into fire wood, though. I like the stark aspects of b/w nature shots - you can almost feel the chill looking at this one.
