Hi,
Will there be a noticeable difference if I go from printing 400 DPI to 260 DPI?
I ask because the photo lab I work at is getting a newer printer, but instead of printing 8x10's at 400 DPI,
it only prints them at 260. Our D-Lab.3 is being replaced by the d-lab.1 All-Rounder.
If so, will there be a noticeable difference between 400 DPI and 360 DPI?

Is your monitor calibrated?
-
You could split it into 3, remember exactly what you did, do it to all three, and stitch them
back together?

I successfully shot a swim team on Wednesday, except I got glare on the glasses in this shot due to taking
down my gear and having to set it back up for a few teens. Thus, I didn't have time to tweak my lighting
setup. I know why this happened, and how to fix it when taking the pic, but I slipped up here.

I would be extremely thankful if someone could help me out with the colored part of the eyes. I think hers
are green. Thank you all so much in advance.

Hello,
I am doing portraiture now, and am needing some of my clients and models to sign model releases so I
can use their images in my gallery.
I am at a loss for what it should say. I will want to use them for my gallery, other personal uses, and
possibly the counter display at my photo lab. Would anyone be so kind as to post their Model Release for
me to base mine off of, and the information I will need to include to be able to do the things I've
mentioned with the images?
Thank you.

Shoot w/o card isn't stupid at all, it is for shooting tethered when you are saving you images
directly to a laptop, as I do when I do large schools or sports teams.
-
I would just do this.

The odds are slim, possibly non-existant, Agfa went out of business around 1.5 years ago.
Anything that is left has been sitting in a warehouse for atleast that long.

Thanks everyone, I'll give the eBay Special a try.
Disappointing that Canon doesn't put it into the flash. It is such a small feature, they
probably could of added it at a cost of like .50c per unit.

Does such a thing exist?
I want to be able to trip my 430EX from my alienbees, because I want to use it as a background light until
I'm confident enough to add a third strobe to my kit. Any options?

I don't think you can go wrong with another Alienbees B400 on a boom for the hair, I don't
think you need a 5' ocotbox. I would say a small or medium sized softbox would be fine.
But hey, I'm learning all this lighting stuff right now too.

I don't because music on a website serves no purpose and is ungodly annoying.
95% of the time I have my own music on, and your customers and mine probably do a lot of
the time too, or the TV, or maybe they are on the phone, or in a conversation, and nobody
wants to hear the monotone version of Here Comes the Bride or compressed copy of White
Wedding.
Well, that's my two cents, but I really hate any website with music....

item=V300
But that is more than you need. That is 4 monolights with a portable battery pack and
accessories from one of (if not the best) companies, Paul C. Buff Inc.

I don't do photography because I hope to one day be a guy who takes one picture, makes 80
huge copies, sells them, and makes enough money for the entire year.
I do photography because I look at other peoples work and want to create something that
beautiful. I want to make that kind of art. I want to capture the beauty of the people around
me. I want to make people feel good about themselves from looking fantastic in a portrait.
Yes, I love it so much that I hope to one day be able to make a decent living off it, and have
my own small portrait/glamour studio. But I do it mainly because I love it.

My lab is a 1.99, ready in nine minutes, and no fingerprints. If I saw one scratch on a negative
caused by us, the entire machine would be apart and spread out on the floor within minutes.
It is possible to find a good consumer lab.

Oh, and I've also got a 430ex and bracket.
-
No more takers?

When you drag the icon into the trash, the trash turns into the little eject arrow button,
correct?
And the LED still doesn't turn off?
Hmm. I'm pretty sure you can just take the card out, if not the reader. I do it all the time.

If you're on a mac it's Apple key + shift + 3
Or, use apple key + shift + 4, and it will give you cross hairs to select and crop the area to
take the picture of, so that you can skip the whole editing thing. Saves to the desktop.

You know, get a flash bracket and a off shoe camera cord, use your 28-80 and won't be half
bad, as far as I know.

I will be taking a large number of portraits for a sports team this mid-June, during the afternoon. This has
potential to be a day with harsh sun. They will be outdoor.
What is the best way to still get a flattering image in harsh sun? I am thinking to position with the subjects
back to the sun, and use a fill, on low power.
Here is what I will have to work with...
-350D
-50mm 1.8 (I will be using this most likely)
-75-200 4-5.6 III USM (using for group shot, as it'll be across a pool.)
-18-55 kit
-2 AB400's w/umbrellas, stands, etc.
-Some reflectors (haven't decided which yet)
And I will be shooting with a pool as the background.
I've never had to do portraits in harsh sunlight, and I'm not in a position to reschedule on the day-of
based on sun. I will be shooting about 3 hours. If there is anything additional I can buy or rent to make
this a success, I will do so.

Copying Fred Miranda forums here...
Let's see your studios, and some shots you took in them!
I don't have a permanent studio, as the biggest spare room I have is only 8x12 with 8 foot ceilings, and it
isn't perfectly rectangular. I am purchasing my studio setup in a week (2 B400's w/umbrellas and
accessories, portable background stand, white&black 9ft seamless and modifiers) and I have made sure
that it is all portable, so I can shoot on location. When I need a studio, I will be renting one, or renting a
classroom at a nearby high school (huge, with 21 foot ceilings, and grey walls + it's an old building with
'built in backgrounds'!).
So let's see your setups, past, present, whatever you have a shot of!

I've worked with it for 4 or so years, and my mind is still fresh and young and open to new things.

"No, it's much longer than that. I have a Nikon 5000 (the up-model version of the V) and it takes maybe 2 or 3 minutes per frame. "
Oh my, well they really need to get cracking on improving that.
I would just take them all to a lab to do, and use the time you save to take more pictures. Digitally. Or get back into the workforce to pay for the ridiculous amount of money it costs.
ALIENBEES?
in Lighting Equipment
Posted
I use alienbees. I have a B400 and a B800. My B800 will recycle in about a half second at full power. My
camera does 3fps. If I just hold down the shutter, it will catch about every second shot. If Brooke wants to
get into lowest power setting, then I think alienbees will give the speedotrons a run for their money. I
can't shoot fast enough to tell, though.
Never had smoke. Done school portraits. That's about 300 kids, two shots per kid, between 9am and
11.05 (lunch time), all in a row. They were warm, but certainly no smoke. If your alienbee is smoking,
you've probably broken it, and you should call AB tech support so they can ship you a loaner while they
fix it for you. (Lets see whoever else do that).
