i have searched the web about this issue, but have not seen this behaviour mentioned. any feedback greatly appreciated!
i just bought a 500CM and it came with a A24 film back. it seems to take film loading ok, taking 10 complete revolutions to reach "1", where it stops. body and back indicators both are white. i can activate shutter, but then the advance crank will not wind. sometimes it moves a little bit, varying amounts, but usually not very far. other times it won't move at all. i am removing the dark slide.
if i remove the film back, body will advance and activate fine. when i first remove film back after trying to shoot it, i can see the "coupling gear" slowly moving on the film back. that's not good right lol?! it very slowly moves for a 5-10 seconds then stop. weird. but when i put the back on, it generally will advance a small amount then stop, or not advance at all. a few times it has actually fully advanced and i can activate shutter, but it's rare.
so does it sound like this back needs a CLA/repair? i was planning on getting a proper A12 back anyway, but it would be nice to know if this one is usable. any test i can try? maybe trick the back to thinking it's on body and try to advance gear...?
thanks!
