1. I was considering selling some of my

gear to get the d600 with the kit and

keep the 50mm and 35mm for the

    moment

    Or

Sell some lens and flash and Get the

    24-70 2.8 with the D7000

    Some of my gear :

    Nikon D7000

    Nikon 50mm 1.8D

    Nikon 35mm 1.8g

    Nikon 70-300mm f4.5-5.6G VR

    Nikon SB-800

Sigma 150mm 2.8 EX APG DG HSM

Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM

I really don't use the 70-300 as much

    anymore

Hardly use the sb-800 unless I need to

The 150 I don't do as much macro as I

wanted but its an awesome lens for

    portraits Candids and some

    architecture

The sigma 10-20 is my favorite for land

    and city scapes

Would the kit make sense for me or

    should I just get the 24-70 2.8

Most of my work is scapes, studio work

with strobes, cars and some pets.

This upcoming year I want to

    photograph our newborn and puppies

    with studio flash mostly.

For major gigs i usually rent additional

gear to be safe (lens and camera)

    What do you guys suggest

  2.
I did a search but didn't find anything specific for my situation.
We are located in IL if that matters.

We did the photography and design for a CD and did a contract as normal. With my contract normally the client gets digital low resolution pics on a DVD.
The promo companies are now asking for photos to put on their flyers for upcoming concerts.
In this situation do I need an extension of the contract for the promo companies or write a separate license agreement for the company?
The artist is aware of the photo needed for the flyer and as far as a model release goes he can use his photos for promotion on his social media pages but specific for his personal use..etc
If anybody can guide me or give some previous experiences or even proper wording to be used for the promo company we would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you in advance

  3. Yes my mistake on the 24vs28. I preffer not to use flash in indoor car shows. While the 35 works great it's not wide enough for certain

cars and the space is limited. The sigma is a bit slow and setting a longer shutter is not ideal with people walking around.

As for the 50mm upgrade I guess I can wait but Ill consider the 1.4 for the Bokeh primarily.

As for the 85mm I'm still undecided. So far your replies are great.

  4. Hey it's been a while since I posted but I'm reaching out for some advice.

With multiple life changing experiences good and bad I have decided to dedicate the next few years to Hobby photography and set the business side on hold.

I already sold some of my equipment but I'm left with a few items.

We will be welcoming a new born in the fall and since I always enjoyed kid photography I will be focusing my energy on the kid and photographing our life as a family.

We have Two miniature pinschers so I will be doing pet photography as well.

I really enjoy fishing and doing Landscape photography.

Recently I have been doing non flash photography. However I just ordered a beauty dish for pregnancy photos, pet photos and baby photos.

I have several projects in mind that I have not accomplished yet but the theme will be conceptual.

Normally at least 3 times a week I do street photography but lately I been getting more shy and that's why I use the 70-300 and 150 for this.

Since I haven't decided to stick to just one type of photography I kept the equipment thats on the list below.

I will be selling the Olympus setup soon.

So basically I will he shooting family-pets-landscape-cars.

I tend to go to many car shows outdoor and only a handful indoor.

My desire is to upgrade the 50mm 1.8d because in movie mode you can can hear the autofocus.

Should I Upgrade to sigma 1.4-1.8 or Nikon 1.4-1.8G

For cars I was thinking of getting rid of the 35mm 1.8g for the upcoming 24mm1.8g

    And finally

    Should I get the 85 1.8g

The 50 will be upgraded for sure but not sure for which one

And I can only order the 85 or 24

The sigma wide that I have I love the results but it's slow for indoor car shows.

Is the 70-300 at 85 a perfect solution instead of the 85 1.8g?

    Any advice would help.

    This is my setup

    Nikon D7000

    Nikon 50mm 1.8D

    Nikon 35mm 1.8g

    Nikon 70-300mm f4.5-5.6G VR

    Nikon SB-800

Sigma 150mm 2.8 EX APG DG HSM macro

Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM

    Alien Bee AB-800 Qty-2

    Cyber Commander

    cyber sync qty-2

honey comb grid 20 and 30 degrees

    White Beauty Dish

    Two umbrellas

    Backdrop setup including green screen

    Reflector

    Olympus OM-4 with 50mm Zuiko 1.4

Eventually I'll upgrade to a FX system down the road. I was considering the Olympus OM-D for street photography but I'll probably hold

up on these two and go with the lens first.

  5.
Green,
Ill keep that in mind for the next time my subject is sitting. Im actually 5'3 and it probably was the lens 17-55mm nikon.

Vail,

Fantastic feedback. It was exactly what I was looking for. I will have to reply more in depth to your comment.
Ill do a quick reply and say : Yes the Male party was very goofy but the B&G warned that they were goofy and the Groom wanted to do the jumping scenes and I actually had to Get a stool to capture some from up high.
For the most part the Female party was energetic except one or two that I strugged with because they would not smile and or their eyes were closed. The B did warn me about them.
I'm thankful for the detailed feedback because its something that I needed to hear. From the friends and family they gave nice feedback but I wanted the Pro's perspective.

  6. It's true I'm my own worst critic. However I always like constructive critique to learn from what people have to say. I usually wait weeks

before I review or edit photos that were not gigs because it gives me a different perspective of the photos.

Well, I received feedback from the couple and other people. Now I want to ask this community for their input.

I only ask one thing. Never mind the grainy look if you look at them on the computer. I already maxed the mb size on my site and that

didn't make a difference when exporting from Lightroom.
