  1. It's hard to conclude too much from this test. The Canon is mounted with a zoom vs. a prime for the Leica; white balance appears different; exposure appears to be a little different (Canon slightly underexposed); and no mention of apertures (other than "middle"). It's interesting that Mr. Puts claims 9 stops dynamic range for the M8 but it appears that highlights in the model's hair are blown out. It would be interesting to know which rendition the model preferred.

  2. This is not an uncommon problem. See Nikon digital slr forum on dpreview. People have reported having it repaired by Nikon out of warranty - again see the forum. Brian.
  3. I have this camera and also try to use it for macro. Not sure I can offer much though in the way of tips since I often am frustrated trying to capture focus in macro mode. Definitely turn off the AiAF focusing featue - a complete waste of time. First I would say try to get the subject in the light, and make sure it has some contrasting texture. If the background has more contrast and/or is more brightly lit focus capture is going to be very difficult. Second try to capture focus at a further distance, and then gradually creep the camera closer capturing focus with each step. Third, try using the manual focus feature, which covers the macro range. Brian.
  4. To me the F2A is more analogue and the F2AS is more digital. I find the needle meter of the F2A more intuitive and faster to work with. The range of the needle in the very center box is + or - one stop. Light sensitivity has never been an issue, and I shoot predominantly natural light. It seems to me it will boil down to personal preference. Are you a digital or analogue watch person?
