1.
I traded my zeiss 2.8/25 (or 2.5/28, can't remember) against a 16-85, because the quality is not far behind and it is autofocus (my eyes are no longer what they used to be..). Very happy with the new lens. Will not trade it back..

  2.
Hi Paul,
Thanks for your time. I removed the battery, charged it several times. The camera works without the back, so I guess it will work with a film back. The only glitch is that the digital back does not wake up. I read somewhere that the rechargeable needs "reprogramming". Ever heard about that?

  3.
My newly acquired H2 refuse to let its back working.
The message is "digital back has no power" following "incompatible battery type". Since the battery is rechargeable and original, it cannot be incompatible.
Any idea how to fix the issue?
Thanks and best regards

  4. ""No end in near future. Have you heared Hasselblab launched their new 50 megapixel "H3DII50"...?""

They squeezed 50Mb on a 36 x 48 mm surface. I wonder if there is a physical barrier for the size of chips (50 x 50 mm ?)

  5. Bag 1: Tachi 45, Nikon 8/90, Ektar 7.5", G-Claron 8/210; Lee filters system (Pola, ND, GND, B&W, 81A), Spotmeter,

Quickload holder, 5 film holders, loupe, flashlight, tools, tape, notebook, . Pan F, Velvia 50

    Bag 2: Hasselblad 503cx, 50, 80, 150 mm, PME45, same Lee filters system

    Bag 3: D300, Zeiss 2.8/25, Voigtlander 4/125 Apo-Lanthar

Bag 4: Fotoman 617, Rodenstock 4.5/75, Rodenstock 5.6/150, same Lee filter system

Bags 1 and 4 stay in Switzerland, Bag 2 and 3 travels.

  6. Get a 4x5 Arca Swiss Misura, a set of Rodenstock or Schneider lenses and a scanner Hasselblad X1, and you should be

ok for the next 5 years. Maybe at this time, digital technology will have catch up..But at a price!

I have a D300, which I use only for collecting family souvenirs, and use 6x6 and 4x5 for serious jobs.

    Give it a try!

  7. I confess too. I am an addict.

I have a job that requests me to travel a lot i, leave alone in hotels, and not seeing

my family more than 6 weeks per year! I cure temporary depression by buying

photographic stuff from ebay, keh, badger through internet. I have now a D200, a

Tachihara, a Chamonix on the way (July delivery), a D300 waiting for me in its box,

a Hasselblad, a Fotoman 617 being shipped, and something like 30 lenses for all the

different formats: Voigtlander, Nikon, Rodenstock, Many Zeisses, B&L, Ektar, etc.

All collecting dust in the shelves (the 200 film sheets and 20 rolls of 120 in the

fridge!). When I am on holiday, it is raining, I have many things to settle, visit

relatives, my boss, etc. I sometimes take with me the Hassy with me during my trip,

but it is not a convenient gear to transport through airports with 3 lenses, and of

course I NEED a backup D200+lenses because Hassy uses film that cannot be

developed everywhere and it is nice to take digital pictures of the Hassy taking

pictures with film! From the day I tried the Hassy, the D200 looked pale and HAD to

be replaced with the D300 (better dynamic range, more pixels, you know all that...).

Of course the D300 with several objectives is not convenient at all and HAD to be

complemented with the new 24-70, because the Zeiss 25 mm cannot cover all the

    pictures I wish..

I am seriously thinking that I should retire for finally using this gear, or I am going to

finish bankrupt with a pile of PhaseOne and Hy6 in the basement.

    Thank for reading.

    It is barely exaggerated....

  8. You are right. Jeff. I am going to dump my utopian plan, clean my D200, fit it with a Zeiss

2.8/25 and take some interesting shoots anyway, without attracting a crowd trying to guess

who is the heavy-weight lifter hiding behind the huge piece of glass.

I will keep the Hassie and the 4x5 for the Swiss alps, fixed on a solid tripod.

Thanks for the advise, which makes me save $6000!

  9. It looks like the outfit H1+zoom is not the ideal setup to stroll around the cities of the

developing world. But it is only 500 gr. heavier than the D3+70-210. 3.1 kg vs 2.6kg. Of

course no VR in the HC.

  10. Hi,

I am targeting a second-hand H1 or H2 body, to replace the less convenient 503CX with no integrated

    metering.

Is is feasible to shoot handheld with a H body with a zoom HC 50-100, or is it damn too heavy?

    Thanks for sharing your experience.

NB: I still have a D200, which is gathering dust, just in case...

    Serge

  11. I would say no with the newer lenses (cosina building). The minimum aperture and focal

lengths have to be programmed and manually set, and this is available on the D200, D300,

D2 and D3. In addition, no metering with flash. I upgraded from D80 to D200 because I

wanted to use Voigtlander and Zeiss lenses. I do not know about the older lenses, if they

worked on older Nikon, they may work on new ones. Tell me if I am wrong.
