  1. Copy & paste this address into your browser. Click on the "Using selection tools in NX". This will help you figure it out. There are other Tutorials there also that may come in handy.
  2. The only thing I can suggest is to uninstall again. Then reboot your computer, then use something like CCleaner's Registry cleaner. Then reboot & then try a clean install. Did you have it set up to download & install updates automatically? Because their was a new version that came out. That may have something to do with it. Just a thought! The rebooting may be a pain in the butt, but it does wonders sometimes. I don't know how to leave a hyperlink to CCleaner, but if you Google it you should find a download site easily enough. Be careful when installing it, because at some point it asks what you all want to install & 1 of the things is a Yahoo Toolbar. Just uncheck it & you'll be okay. Good Luck!
  3. I don't know what you mean by "Camera Control", but I can adjust Exposure, White balance, Sharpening, Tone Compensation, Color Mode, Saturation, & Hue Adjustment on RAW files with my NX. I never tried Capture 4.4, I would be interested in hearing the differences. I've never been able to figure out some the other editors, but I've been having a great time with NX. Seems to be very user friendly. Their biggest selling point is the U-Point Technology. I use it now & then & maybe could use it a bit more. I suppose you could get by without it, but it's really nice to have sometimes.
  4. I found this by Googling.

The Capture NX update will be available for download as soon as it is ready for release, the company said. It will be priced at $150; a 30-day trial version will be available, for new users and free update will be available to current users of Capture NX. A special limited-time online upgrade price of $90 will be offered to current owners of Nikon Capture 4 software in the U.S. market (it will be limited to one upgrade per legitimate Nikon Capture 4 product key).

  5. I had the same problem with my new Nikon. Just download & install Picasa When you connect your camera to your computer & get that pop-up box that asks what you want to do, Picasa will be 1 of your options. It works well with RAW files. If you by chance are in need of a RAW file reviewer, meaning, you would just like to double click them & view them in a similar fashion as Windows Picture & Fax Viewer. Microsoft has a RAW Viewer that works well. I can't figure out how to add a hyperlink. Just copy & paste, I guess. Sorry!

Here's another cheap-and-sleazy approach. Assuming that 1) You're shooting JPGs, 2) You're on a Windows XP (or later) machine, you can plug your camera into a USB port and have its file system show up as a folder on your desktop. Choose to display that as thumbnails. As you shoot, new thumbnails will appear in that folder. You're a mouseclick from seeing them full-screen. Remember, though, that MS's preview (which actually works pretty well) is going to take some liberties with color and contrast, trying to make it look nice. I've used this technique when shooting while tethered to someone else's machine, and it's nice to know you have an option that uses only what comes with the operating system. But if you're in RAW, you've got to get another application involved.

Microsoft has a Raw Thumbnail & Image Viewer that you can get here.
