Taken several years ago after a nice snowfall in Yosemite Valley.
-
I took this image in 2008, and wasn't able to process it correctly at
the time. Now, I was able to process the RAW file twice and get
much more detail out of the pyramid shaped monolith, as well as
more cloud detail. This is one of my favorite shots in my portfolio,
and a 'once in a lifetime' shot as this this storm was ripping through
so fast that I had seconds to set up and wait for this calm 'eye' in the
clouds to travel over the 'monolith'. Taken with a 5D and 24mm F1.4
(mk 1).

Taken with my 5D mkII at 17mm and stitched. This is my first attempt
at a stitched comp (4 horizontal frames), and I'm fairly happy with it. The
sky looked like it was going to go "over the top" with the reds- but this
was the peak.

Taken last Friday with my 5D mkII. Please view in a dark room to see
full effect.

Please open larger image before critiquing. I like this shot because it
has an otherworldly feel to it. Just need a ringed planet in the sky, and
some critters crawling about ;-)

Wow. I just realized this image was selected for POTW. I'm honored by its selection, as well as all of your comments. Thank you. This "prism" effect was from light beams filtered through some trees, and into the waterfall's mist. The shadows between the beams are simply shade from the trees' branches. Here are two more images taken during this same session that have been minimally processed with ACR. My PS skills are subpar, and I'm certain these images could be made much better by someone more proficent in PS. Again, thank you all for your comments and constructive criticism.

Taken while the full moon was rising behind me. This is a single
exposure- no filters were used. Just some simple post in CS5

I took this image in 2004 with a Canon 10D. At the time, it was a bit
noisy and I never processed it. Witht he advent of great noise removal
software, I revisted this image, and it cleaned-up very well. This evening
was magical, with coyotes howling int he background while I watched
this spectacular display of Northern Lights.

Taken back in 2006. This didn't work as well in color, but I thought it
made the conversion to B&W well. I might crop just a nip more off the
right side. Should print well.

This is one exposure- no photoshop blending or trickery.

Taken last night wth my 5D mkII. Tweaked color temp a bit warmer than
camera default. Also ran through Noiseware.

I took this image with an A2E and Fuji Superia film back in 2001. The
resultant scanned image was a bit grainy. I since reworked with
Noiseware at the default "night setting". It cleaned-up amazingly well, I
think. Please open larger version before critiquing.

Taken 7-7-2001 with my Canon A2E and Canon 50mm lens. This was,
by far the most photogenic storm I've ever witnessed. Unfortunately,
Murphy's Law kicked in shortly after I took this shot and my battery
went dead. Although I had an extra "new" battery in my pack- it was
also dead. By the time I was able to make it to a store to get a new
battery, the storm matured and it was full-out downpours. I haven't seen
a better storm since. Taken with Fuji Provia 400F and was a bit grainy
when scanned, but I ran through Noiseware last night and liked the
result.

I took this image back in 2001 with my Canon A2E and Fuji Superia
Extra film. Now that denoise technology has become much better, I
decided to rework this scan from my Nikon 4000ED scanner. Much
better than the original process. Used Noiseware to reduce the film
grain.

Taken in 2004 with a Canon 10D. Noise removal software has become
so good, that I decided to revist some older digital SLR images to see
what the newest noise removal software could do. For this image, I used
Noiseware.

Submerged Maple Leaf
in Landscape
Posted
This is a submerged maple leaf with background maples reflected in
the water. Taken on a clear day with beautiful bright blue sky, further
enhanced with use of a circular polarizer. Would love to hear other's
thoughts on this. Please view the larger image before commenting,
please.
