Another Russian swan captured in Japan. I really like this shot. I like the lighting (early
morning), head angle, eye contact and wing position. It was a lucky shot coz this guy
just came flying over my head. Taken with a 300 mm lens.
All comments and critiques are welcome. Thanks!

This is a Russian swan during its winter stay in the N. of Japan. Taken with a 300 mm
lens + a TC1.7x. Caught while taking off before clearing the trees on the back which
helped me to keep the whites well exposed.
I like the wing position but I'm not so sure if the background is distracting.
Thank you for your comments!

Here is another shot using the same zoom lens 17-55.
I really love its pose. I pushed the H/L as far as could. i am not sure if I overdid it.
Please feel free to comment. thank you!

I have a few swan shots that i have been meaning to get your inputs about.
Here is the first one. It was taken in the UK in my friend's lake.
I used a short zoom, 17-55.
All comments welcome! Thanks!

I like these little guys. My sample seems to be an older guy. It took me so long to be
able to find one resting on a rock. Some how they love wires and concrete.
Thank you for your comments!

Since you said you are new to birds photography I will give you some advice. I am not a pro and I am just starting to learn. When you shoot birds you will find out that no matter what lens you have, it is not long enough.
This shot looks very good to me BUT you have to crop otherwise your bird is lost in the picture. 99% of my bird shots are cropped. No shame on that.
Here I would recommend a big crop leaving space on the left and make it tight on the right.
You have to shoot wide open to isolate the subject and then sharp the image. Specially the best is to blur the BG very smoothly.
Last but least, look and study other members work and learn from that! Good luck! Rene'
