  1. I keep it pretty simple. We use a media viewer at the wedding to upload our cards. It acts like a little hard drive and it's has plently of room. You can also view your RAW images on it!

Then, I upload to media viewer to an external hard drive and burn the RAW images on DVD's and put in a safe place. I also copy them over to one other backup drive. When I'm done with my editing, I make sure that the jpgs are on both drives and then burn 2 copies of DVDs for my records. The dvds are stored in different places.

  2. The bride emailed me this morning and I responded that I was still working on the editing and would try to have it completed today. Her family is hounding her too! I started my business in KS and my mom booked a CD package for the wedding. I couldn't start working on the wedding untill I got back to WA. I feel very rushed and I'm not giving them as much work as I would my other clients. So, they may not get an album but I still want them to be happy with my work.
  3. I have been photographing weddings for seven years and really have never had to deal with a family like this. The

mothers keep emailing and calling me, asking when the photos are going to be done. The bride and groom are under

a contract for delivery within four weeks. I personally told them I would have them done in two. The calls and emails

started one week after the wedding. How can I tactifully stop the calls so I can finish my editing? I feel that I have

    been as nice as possible.

    Thanks - Des

  4. I'm interested in finding out what other photographers are using for music. There is a huge demand for photo

montages, but there's not a lot of info out there regarding the legalities. I've asked a videographer that I know and

couldn't get a straight answer. Do you by royalty free, released, or from iTunes? The music that I have purchased

for advertising (with a release) isn't very good and will but everyone to sleep. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  5. I think that some of your confusion may be with your workflow. Our studio edits from the RAW photos and then files away the RAW images. If you are designing your albums from RAW then you are doing twice the amount of work, and your images won't reflect the same editing as the JPEG. I have a folder of RAW, jpeg, and thumbnails for each event. I've never had a problem working with the files.
  6. I design the album the way I think it would look best. Then, I email thumbnails or post them on my website for the bride to view. At that time, they have the choice to make changes. When they are pleased with the layout, they sign an approval form. This states that if there are more changes after the approval date, costs will be invoiced to the bride/groom.
  7. You've done a fantastic job. You've really caught a lot of journalistic shots. I would suggest adding to what you have already done, like more shots of the bride/groom's face. You've caught emotion, with is good, but you need a variation for when you put their album together.
