I'm with everyone else on this. Your contract is with the bride and she should have the final say. You could always password protect the gallery. This may be creating more work for yourself and the clients friends shouldn't be pushy with you.

Have you tried to calibrate your monitor with a product like Spyder? It should give you the results and may not need to buy an expensive monitor that will need to be calibrated too. Just a thought.

On our website, the person wanting to access the photos must register with us. I always let the bride know when the photos are available to see first. We also give out a disc, preview book and online proofing. That way they can reference back and forth without confusion.

I keep it pretty simple. We use a media viewer at the wedding to upload our cards. It acts like a little hard drive and it's has plently of room. You can also view your RAW images on it!
Then, I upload to media viewer to an external hard drive and burn the RAW images on DVD's and put in a safe place. I also copy them over to one other backup drive. When I'm done with my editing, I make sure that the jpgs are on both drives and then burn 2 copies of DVDs for my records. The dvds are stored in different places.

The bride emailed me this morning and I responded that I was still working on the editing and would try to have it completed today. Her family is hounding her too! I started my business in KS and my mom booked a CD package for the wedding. I couldn't start working on the wedding untill I got back to WA. I feel very rushed and I'm not giving them as much work as I would my other clients. So, they may not get an album but I still want them to be happy with my work.

Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions! It's made me feel a lot better about the situation.

I have been photographing weddings for seven years and really have never had to deal with a family like this. The
mothers keep emailing and calling me, asking when the photos are going to be done. The bride and groom are under
a contract for delivery within four weeks. I personally told them I would have them done in two. The calls and emails
started one week after the wedding. How can I tactifully stop the calls so I can finish my editing? I feel that I have
been as nice as possible.
Thanks - Des

I'm interested in finding out what other photographers are using for music. There is a huge demand for photo
montages, but there's not a lot of info out there regarding the legalities. I've asked a videographer that I know and
couldn't get a straight answer. Do you by royalty free, released, or from iTunes? The music that I have purchased
for advertising (with a release) isn't very good and will but everyone to sleep. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Renee, has a good point. Album companies only sell to other business. However, there are album companies that design and create albums for the couple. Check out http://asukabook.com/ and http://www.asabooks.com/ I would be happy to design the album for you as well! Best wishes in your search.

I think that some of your confusion may be with your workflow. Our studio edits from the RAW photos and then files away the RAW images. If you are designing your albums from RAW then you are doing twice the amount of work, and your images won't reflect the same editing as the JPEG. I have a folder of RAW, jpeg, and thumbnails for each event. I've never had a problem working with the files.

There are so many options for business cards these days. I use www.gotprint.com and they are awesome. I think your cards should reflect your art. You may even think about making your self a logo or change the styling of your studio name, just to better reflect on you. If you need help redesigning, let me know.

I design the album the way I think it would look best. Then, I email thumbnails or post them on my website for the bride to view. At that time, they have the choice to make changes. When they are pleased with the layout, they sign an approval form. This states that if there are more changes after the approval date, costs will be invoiced to the bride/groom.

I would give her a call when the next payment is due. Someone mentioned earlier that you should show up since she paid a deposit - excellent idea. Is she does contact you and would like to cancel, request she put it into writing. That way you have documentation if there is a problem later. Until that happens, I suggest mailing her an invoice and day's schedule monthly, as a reminder.

I always wear black. That way if you get caught in a photo, you'll blend in, and black looks professional.

I use Capri Albums. They have fantastic slip in albums. The pages are really thick and the brides love them.

You've done a fantastic job. You've really caught a lot of journalistic shots. I would suggest adding to what you have already done, like more shots of the bride/groom's face. You've caught emotion, with is good, but you need a variation for when you put their album together.

Hi Barclay,
I could help you out with your post production or your wedding albums. I've just moved to a new area, so I don't have very many weddings this year and a lot of free time. I would like to help you out doing what I love. www.absolutelyweddings.net email - desirae@absolutelyweddings.net
