<p>Let me rephrase my question-<br>
I have created several backgrounds in PS. Now I want to make a 20 page album using the backgrounds I created and pulling pictures into those backgrounds (1-4 pics per background).<br>
Is there any software that can help me automate this process, rather than doing it all in PS?<br>
Thanks again,<br>
Alan.</p>

<p>Hi-<br>
Can anyone recommend a good software for making albums with various backgrounds and layouts?<br>
Thanks,<br>
Alan.</p>

<p>Hi All,<br>
I have a "wierd" situation, which I'm sure someone here can opine on.<br>
I'm using the Sigma 18-200 OS on my D80. I frame a photograph, and when I look at the results, the actual framing of the picture is larger than what it was when I looked thru the viewfinder.<br>
Why is this an issue? Well, I want to be artistic and frame a portrait in a certain way, but when I see the result, I get more than what I wanted to include in the picture.<br>
Any ideas?<br>
Thanks,<br />Alan. </p>

<p>Thank you all VERY much. It certainly helps a lot.<br>
Just to touch on one point Andrew wrote, if I use a battery pack with two batteries, will that make the focusing in the lens faster, because there is more power?<br>
Thanks again.</p>

<p>Thanks for the input.<br>
Given that the D7000 has a built-in AF motor, will it focus even faster when mounting an AF-S lens (i.e. two motors)? </p>

<p>Hi All,<br>
I'm reading reviews of the Nikon D5100 and while I see that it's a wonderful camera, the camera does not have a focus motor (like, for example, the D7000 which has a built-in AF motor).<br>
In practical terms though, what does that mean? Will it not focus the lens? Will it focus more slowly? What, if any, are the effects on performance, speed, etc.<br>
Thanks for the help!<br>

<p>Hi all,<br>
A good friend of mine just showed me pictures of her "Maternity Photography".<br>
To be honest, I didn't really know this type of niche existed, but aparently it does and I found it very interesting, not to mention gorgeous pictures.<br>
When you first think pregnancy, you think big belly - not necessarily anything too appealing about it. But once you see the pictures you realize that beyond the pregnancy, it's actually very appealing and the women come out looking like models. Even better than models because they're not so skinny...<br>
Anyway, thought I would share this enlightment with you all. The photographer is actually an Israeli, and her work is first grade if you ask me. Here's a link to her <a href="http://www.parparim.co.il/תמונות-הריון.asp">gallery</a> (the website is in Hebrew).<br>
Hope you enjoy.</p>

Frank,
Where did you read that about the D200 - maybe we can find the same for the D80?
From other readings I've done so far, it appears that 50,000 is somewhat a close number for the D80, but I would love to have that confirmed...

Hi all,
I saw a previous thread (posted last year) about a similar topic, but no real
definitive answer - most were "guesses".
Does anyone know what the shutter lifespan is (in actuations) of the D80 and
the D200 (or D300).
Thank you,
Alan.

I'm back and my verdict is that the card is corrupting the images.
When I formatted the card in the Nikon before the shoot, I had no corrupt images. Another time I forgot to format and the corruption returned (I think it happens more as the card starts to get full).
I also tried downloading to another PC but the corrupt image remained corrupt.
So anyway, format those cards if you know they are going to get full and DEFENITELY make sure you buy the original and not a fake.
Thank you all.

Excellent! I'll try the solutions posted and report back to the thread in a few days, if anyone wants to pop back and see.
Here's what I'll do:
1. Format the card in the camera
2. Download my next batch of photographs from a card-reader and then direct from the camera and see if there's a difference.
3. Try another card (which I already have, I just can't remember which one is corrupting... could be both, not sure).
All these will take a few days, but I'll be back.
Thank you all!

Hi everyone,
I'm shooting with the D80 and a 2gb Sandisk Ultra II.
I would say that about 2% of my shots come out corrupt. I shoot about 500
images a day, then download them to my PC, format the memory card and reuse the
next day.
I'm pretty sure it's not the Nikon. Could my memory card be dying? Does it
become less "usable" after a lot of usage? Would a low-level format help?
Thank you!

Any thoughts on Microsoft's new HD Photo format. It's out and there's a plug-in
for CS2 and CS3: <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?

plugin</a>
<br /><br />
Sounds promising to me. Much higher quality, half the file size...would love to
hear some comments on this topic.

Hi all,
Haven't seen a recent discussion on this topic. Is it safe to compress TIFF
files in ZIP or LZW (using Photoshop of course). Could this cause any problem
with image quality at any point? I saw some old threads about image corruption
when compressing. Are these problems of the past?
-
I guess more storage it is... What about when saving the TIFF files in PS, compress them as LZW or ZIP?
-
After working on a project and having loads of TIFF files, I'm finally done.
Obviously, I don't want to keep these huge TIFFs. On the other hand, if I turn
them into JPEGs, I'll loose quality. What if I need to use one of these
photographs in the future? It would be ashame not to preserve the quality of
the TIFF.
Any suggestions (apart from buying more storage...)
Thanks.

Pierre, if I'm not mistaken, when I save a JPEG in PS, it automatically chooses sRGB as the format, right?
Thanks again for the good advice.
-
Thanks, Matt. Your answer really helps! But you're right. I work hard on getting the perfect exposure and then when I look at it on another PC, it's horrible... Oh well...
-
Thank you, Colin. Is there a consensus on which software is the best to use on a PC?
-
Hello,
Need some advice. I can't seem to be able to get a picture's brighness
(lighting) right. I make my adjustments in PS, and all seems great, then when I
look at the picture on another PC, it looks underexposed. What should I do?
How do I know which is the right exposure when I send it to the print lab?
Thank you,
Alan.

Hi everyone,
I am relocating abroad soon (I'm currently in the U.S.) and I have a bunch of
photo albums, all priceless of course.
Does anyone have ideas on what the best way for me to package these photos
during the move. I'm afraid they may get ruined in the weeks at sea with all
the heat and humidity.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Alan.

Has anyone tried this software? Any comments? Is it worth getting?

Hi everyone,
My question is about learning to be a better photographer. I've been
photographing for a few years now (using 10D and dRebels) but I can't say that
I am a professional photographer (nor am I a beginner).
Nonetheless, I want to learn more and improve my photography skills as well as
my knowledge of digital photography in general.
Can anyone recommend courses or DVDs that can take an intermediate
photographer to the next level. I ask about courses/DVDs and not books,
because I find it easier to learn when someone is talking to me (even if thru
a television).
Thanks, Alan.

Thank you all. Great information.
D80 with Sigma 18-200 "framing" issue
in Nikon
Posted
<p>Folks, I've used the D80 with a Nikon 18-200 and with a Tamron 18-200 and I have never had this problem before. Yesterday, I bought the Sigma 18-200 and lo and behold, I have this issue.<br>
Could this be somehow related to the Sigma lens or some sort of setting in the camera that changed?<br>
Thanks again,<br>
Alan.</p>
