Also, shoot further away from your backdrop to keep it from catching light.

<br>Forrest,<br>
Profoto just announced an exciting little battery pak called the <br>AcuteB 600. Check it out on their homepage at:<br><br>
<a href="http://www.profoto.com">www.profoto.com</a> <br><br>
There's also an article about them at this link: <br>

Hope that is helpful, <br>

Your effective focal length will change with the 20D's sensor, but I would suggest the Canon
17-40. It's a solid lens for the money.
Don't get the Canon 10-22 if you plan on upgrading to a full-frame sensor any time soon: It
won't work.

I agree with Michael: Even though you can see what the histogram is doing on your digicam,
using a meter will solidify your style as you set lights and hit your ratios right on.

I also just found out about <a href="http://www.paramountcords.com">Paramount Cords</a>, who will make you a custom e-ttl off shoe cord at the length you want.

hornswoggled!? Wow, that's an interesting word. <br> <br>
The infrared transmitter is great and comes in very handy, but if <br>you're shooting in bright sunlight and using the flash for fill,<br> you'll find that the infrared doesn't work so well. In that case, <br>I like to use a <a href="http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=details_accessories&A=details&Q=&sku=12972&is=REG&addedTroughValue=348457_GREY&addedTroughType=accessory_detail">off camera hot shoe </a> modified with 6' extra cord <br>spliced into it. With this set up, you're sure to have your stobe fire <br>and can have an assistant hold it anywhere you want it.

I don't know the Photogenic system, so I can't compare the two. But what I would say to you has to do with the Calumet batteries:
As much as I love my Calumet Travelites, the battery set up is just not all that functional. The cord from the head to the battery is only long enough to reach from the top of the stand to the ground. This means that you aren't able to plug a second head into the battery unless you place the second head right next to the first one. (Not a good lighting scenario.) So, unless you've got a battery for each head, it doesn't end up working very well. And, as a wedding photographer, you need fast recycle time. The batteries don't recycle very quickly. I think I have to wait around 3 seconds for the batt to recharge when used at full power. That may not sound like a lot, but when you see a moment and miss it because your strobe wasn't ready, it will seem like an hour.
Again, I love my Travelites and wouldn't trade them: as long as they're plugged in to the wall!

I agree with Geoff: RAW gives you absolute control of color temperature.<br>
If you'd rather not, or don't have the means to process RAW,<br> you can set your 20D's white balance to 1850K. <br><br>
Menu > Color temp. > and scroll to 1850K<br>Then set your white balance setting to "K"<br><br>
Good Luck on your shoot, <br>

Wow, those Sterlingtek are even cheaper than the Impact brand. <br>
Thanks for the info.<br><br>

<br>I only use Canon accessories for my cameras, but I'm looking at the
<br><b>Impact BP-511A </b>battery wondering if it will last just as long as
the <br>Canon BP-511A. It's a $20 difference in price. I've got a 5D. <br><br>
Anyone use Impact batteries with a 5D?<br><br>
Thanks for your input,<br>

Kenneth, <br><br>
I've used the Calumet 750s for several years now and absolutely love<br> them. For a monolight, they're one of the most reliable and cost effective <br>you can find. I have five units and have never had one of them malfunction.<br><br>
Your concern about no fans: I've used all kinds of lighting systems <br>and the Travelites don't get noticeably hotter than a normal fan-<br>cooled studio strobe. (Such as Profoto or Speedotron) The heat <br>mainly comes from the modeling light, which I generally only <br>keep turned on for my main light. But even when I have all modeling lights on <br>I've never noticed extreme heat or had lights go bad. Not to mention that <br>I live in Texas where it's already hot enough!<br><br>
I say keep the Travelites and feel good about the money you saved.<br><br>

Digital back / converter for RB?
in Medium Format
Posted
I haven't had any success finding info on the web about a digital back for an
RB67 Pro SD. Does anyone know of one or a converter (such as the RB back to RZ
body) that would work?
Thanks in advance for your input.
