I tried it with 2 different 30D's one that I got as a replacement for the other about 3 weeks ago.
When I talked to the Canon help desk he said he was shooting burst pictures in his cubicle and getting a similar phenomenon. Does your 20D shoot at 5FPS?

The outdoor picture in the example is from a night football game.
No problem when using natural light.
I am trying to determine if this is problem with all camera's or just with the 30D. I dont have any others at my disposal to try.

I tried using a grey card to set the white balance and got the same results. Is there a filter that I could use to trick the camera?
I will try and send an attachment to show the problem.

I have tried all the white balance settings including custom and Temperature.
The color just shifts around the picture, almost as though somebody had a warm flash light on the picture.

30D with various lens and settings, also tried with 2 different 30D's
Taking pictures inside gym of volleyball and nighttime football games.
When I take pictures in a burst mode with shutter over 1/60th I get
inconsistent white balance. It goes seems to go from normal to too warm then
close to normal etc. etc. I tested with a tripod in house with incandescent
lighting and if the shutter is faster than 1/100 it starts to happen.
Canon says it is the rate at which the lights are flickering that causes
this. Does this make sense and is there anything I can do? Really is a pain
when taking sports pictures and the one with the best action is the one that
looks the worst.
I thought I posted this once before but got no response and can not find it.

Eos 30D, Different lens and settings, all different white balance settings,
tried with 2 different bodies.
Shooting in artificial light, mostly gyms and night football.
When shooting a burst of pics, the colors/white balance of the pictures
changes.
I have duplicated in living room with camera on tripod and shooting burst of 5
pictures. It seems to be worse with faster shutter speeds.
Canon thinks it is the flicker rate of the different types of lights.
If that is the case what can I do to get consistent burst mode pictures when
shooting indoor sports and night time football games with fast shutter and
high ISO. I am unable to use flash.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I have samples but do not know how to post them.
