I like the idea but it doesn't quite come off. The shoes are placed nicely but the bottom right is a little blown out, while the top and left side are underexposed.

The position of the feet doesn't look natural either, and the leggings are a little distracting.

If you have this in raw, I'd try a coposite, bringing up the levels in the underexposed, grey areas only.

To do this again, I'd use a bigger light source, or even flash into a bedsheet hanging from the ceiling.

Once again though, nice idea...

Really nice atmosphere, with the dead tree in the top left third, and the main subjects in the right, it's well balanced.

Such a pity that the camels butt killed the bottom left!

I'm sure this was a lovely scene, bu as far as the photograph goes, there's a little too much going on.

You should either concentrate on the buildings or on the fountain. With both competing for the viewers attention, neither wins.

I'd also drop the exposure a litte - maybe around a stop. Sky needs to be brought down a fair bit.

Have you tried converting some of these photo's (if you have any others without the fountain obscuring the building) to mono, and increasing the contrast? Just a suggestion.

Nice lines and composition. Love the tonal range going from almost black to almost white.

This really works.

A tad low on contrast, but easily sorted with curves/levels in PS.

This is a lovely capture which cold really pop with a little post production work.

I know it's hard to get an "original" baby photo as so many are already out there, and as for aesthetics as it stands, it's nice, but I'm not feeling anything.

A little low on contrast although I imagine this was a very contrasty scene.

Would have been better if the figure was nearer the middle of the lighter face, to stand out more.

I like the grad tone and the rough wood. I think the splash of red might be a little too much though.

I love this pose, and agree that it was probably inspired by Bitesnich. I would very much like to try to emulate something like this myself although I asked myself the same question a few months ago on this very site (PN Forum Posting "Are Poses Copyrighted" [http://photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00KYcb]).

The general concensus was that poses are NOT "copyrightable" and I can see why - if someone takes a photo of a person standing in a doorway, does that mean that no-one else can - that'd be silly.

If Danny had wanted to maliciously pass off the work of Bitesnich as his own then it would have been far easier and cheaper simply to download or scan the image from the book.

The fact that Danny took the time and expense to emulate this distinctive pose serves only to pay homage to Bitesnich, and to teach him some great lighting techniques. I wish I had got round to doing it too!

I have to say that the shot is very well executed, although Bitesnich probably had a lot more resources to hand!

The background spot is off center, but I think that was probably intentional. If it were central then the area under the male models left arm would be too bright and would detract from the image - Go on Danny let us see some more "inspired" shots.

I also love Karels work - in fact I have one of his dance nudes as my desktop wallpaper. It saddens me to know that some people view "emulating the masters" as plagiarism and in no way does my desire to emulate the work of both Karel and Bitesnich constitute a lack of respect to either party.
