Thanks Chris. Nanda Devi is considered by many mountaineers to be one of the most beautiful mountain. I fell in love with this mountain when I was climbing in this area in 1977, and since then my fascination with this mountain has continued.I just saw your photographs; they are beautiful. When the corn ripens, the farmer puts up a temporary structure

called 'Machan' and lives here for about a month to ensure the birds

do not damage his corn. During this period, a number of such machans

come up all over the fields and during dusk, these machans look

eerie, yet intriguing and beautiful.
