Ron & others, this thread contains some really interesting information, thanks for sharing it.
As we know, there was supposed to be a totally new line of Kodachrome films in the 80's. At least this is what I have read here and APUG. So, do we know what emulsions and speeds? I have read about an high speed version rated 400 ISO and then 100 ISO as well. Something else too? And are there any examples left somewhere, exposed test rolls or something?
Kodak introduced K200 in the late 80's (1986 or 1987). Do we have any idea why this emulsion was chosen, not f. ex. ISO 400? Or was it so that this new line of Kodachromes were supposed to come out AFTER K200?
If K25 was such a difficult to make, then what about K200? Was it simply a business case when the dropped it or were there some technical problems involved as well?

For those interested in KL, there is a batch with date 07/2008 and emulsion
number 2672. At least Adorama had it, but sold it out quick.

Just when I thought that there is no more fresh KL in Europe, I found rolls dated 4/2008 (K200P, processing included). Not long ago everybody was saying that KL is gone! This is strange. Last year some people sold their cameras on Ebay.de, because "there will be no more K200".

Just received some fresh KL. Emulsion number 2671, but date is 3/2008. Hopefully there will be at least some more with later date, so that we can shoot KL also in late 2008.

You can visit Fotoyks virtually: www.fotoyks.fi Then: nettikauppa (online store), filmit (films) and mustavalkofilmit (B&W films). Yhteystiedot is for contact numbers and street address. Or dialab.com
I know Bar Loose, but never been there. My favourite (?) is Studio 51, which is a big disco and next to Fotoyks.

Here are 2 places worth trying:
Fotoyks, Fredrikinkatu 51. Located at area called Kamppi, so very central and easy to find. A very good selection of films, also processing etc. available.
Dialab, Työpajakatu. Area: Sörnäinen. Take bus 68 from Rautatientori (Railway station square) and get off at Tilastokeskus stop. Journey takes around 15-20 min. Dialab is: processing, scanning, film, prints etc.
If you don't find your favourite films at these places I'm quite sure that they can tell you where to try next.
Some films may also be found at Anttila and Stockmann departhment stores. They are very central. Stockmann also sells Super8 Tri-X!
Wellcome.

The latest KL I've seen is 2671 and date 12/2007. I try to get some more KL, but it ain't that easy when not living in the USA. Recent rolls go pink quite easily. How much better was PKL?
I have to say that K200 is my all time favourite and I would have shot it exclusively if I would have known before. But everybody wanted to sell me Ektachrome.
About pushing: Does KL go more pink when pushed? Should I try 400, 500 or 800? I'm ready for grain, that is not the question, but a little worried about color balance.

About 3 weeks ago I received my first KL ever from Dwaynes and was totally happy with the quality. Before that I always used Lausanne, since I live in North Europe. Only one little minus for me is that they don't cut it in strips (of 4 pictures) as Lausanne did. Dwaynes sent me the whole film as a roll. Anyway, I'm happy and will use their services again.
What about the quality in Tokyo? Tokyo Kodachrome-scene, anybody...?
-
Thomas S,
I have experienced this as well with KL, never with KR. Some KL rolls are just great while other are not. Why is that, I don't know, but I suspect that it has something to do with film itself. KL just seems to be a sensitive emulsion and go bad quite easily. It is the only film I have shot with plenty of date left (many months) and still get problem like this. Anyway, I like this film very very much, but would use the Pro version if it would be available.

Some slide films have wonderful archival qualities, like example Kodachrome, if you don't project it "all the time". Or why not use B&W as slide, like Scala or DR5?
If you see some faded Agfa, please remember that Agfa colour films tend to have reputation of having lousy archival qualities. Also older Ektas (like E4) and older Fuji seem to fade quite fast. Latest Ektas and modern Fuji (E6) may last a lot longer than 1960's, 70's and 80's stuff.

Carlos C,
Just in a case You are interested, I have this flash adapter 3562 for 6008 AF and also Metz Mecablitz 54-4, and could consider selling. Both like new and with original boxes. Mecablitz 54-4 works great with 6008AF. Feel free to ask more: nowe.miasto( a t )lycos.com

Thanks for the info, Robert.
"Keep using it and EK keep making it!"
Well, I want to use this film, but Kodak doesn't want to sell it to me. They have stopped selling this film in my home country in North Europe and the situation seems to be similar in many European countries.
-
I allways use my KL fresh, my latest are 11/2006, but they tend to be pink anyway. Naturally these are kept in fridge/freezer.
As said, maybe Kodak has not make (many) coatings recently. How fresh KL is out there, dates?
-
This one is for those who have experience with K200 (KL). Are there some ways,
filters, to make it look a bit cooler. Wonderful film, sometimes a bit too warm
for me, amateur version at least, since PKL is no longer available. Any
suggestions?
And then about processing in Tokyo, Japan. Since Lausanne is closing, I wonder
is it worth trying this one. I live in EU, so, it is either Dwaynes or Horiuchi
Color in Tokyo. Maybe some one here have used their service.
Thanks in advance.
