I'm the manager of a busy Ski action/portrait photography buisness in
Vail, Co.
This winter my Canon 10D shooters (I have four of them) would on
occasion tell me that they swore they were missing images off their
CF Cards. I asked them where on the card they shot these missing
images and it sounded to me like it was pretty much random. It
happened so rarely that I chalked it up as my photographer error.
Yesterday I had to shoot a group and sure enough it happened to me. I
did nothing out of the ordindary. When my CF card told me it was full
it said I had 72 images. WHen I tried importing into my computer I
only had 59!
Has this happened to anyone out there? Any and all responces will be
appreciated.

In about five days I'll be leaving for a long road trip to Alaska.
I'm starting in southern Utah and heading north. I don't have to be
there until about the third week in May. My question is where would
you recomend to hit along the way? I have a jeep for transportation.
Mostly I'm going after scenics not wildlife. (wildlife reserved for
my final destination, Katmai!
Also, I'll be leaving Katmai on the 1st of Septmeber and heading
south after 10 day a stay in Denali. I don't have to be in Jackson,
Wy until late November, Where would you recomend I hit on the way
down at this time of year? Thanks!

David: I worked at Redoubt Bay Lodge last summer as a bear veiwing/fishing guide. As a professional photographer I have to say that I'll never go back there to work. Reason being it was the same bears over and over, always the same back drop. Going for half a day? Go for. Keep in mind that you'll be fighting with four other boats from the lodge to see a few bears not to mention that Wolverine Creek is easily accessed from Anchorage by plane. As a result of this you'll see a lot of other fishing guide outfits there. Wolverine creek is a small cove that has a lot of red salmon and at time of year the silvers will be coming in so there will not be as many guiides in the cove. Most likley they'll be out on the lake in the marshes going for the coho. Most likely this will be the case starting in early August. As a bear guide I've had bears stroll by my boat as close as 10 feet. You will not see any boars here. They are all sows with cubs. There was a sow last year that we called "Mona" she had three spring cubs with her that were so adorable. PLease let me know if they are still around.
In my opinion I would recommend to you takew the trip there. The food is some of the best you'll ever find in Alaska, and keep in mind that you're 75 miles from the nearest road.

This summer (April 17th to Oct 10th) I'll be working and living next
to Kenai Fjords NP. I was wandering if anyone out there has any
experience shooting in this area. I'll be living outside of Seward.
I've spent a lot of time north of there but never in this area. Any
and all help would be much appreciated.
