goodbye iPhoto!!!!
I downloaded a copy and seems to run very smooth and fast. My photos are no longer moved around in the way that Apple dictates... I decide my own directory structure.

Crumpler Sporty Guy 0.6 is a perfect fit

you have obviously blown a shite load of money if you bought the V750 to scan negs at 300 dpi.... way more dollars than
sense
-
Why don't you buy it off eBay for less than $500 USD?
-
What about a Leica CL/CLE with a 40mm f/2 lens?
-
Congrats on your two new babies...

I don't think that anyone would feel sorry for someone who "has to resort" to an M6
from their M7 !
Seriously, I don't think that it will take you long to re-adjust to manual shooting.
-
Correct...
DG covers full frame, whilst DC covers only APS-C (cropped sensors)

Think of all those combination (well, 4 really) that you could have with 2 bodies and 2 lenses. You would effectively have a very nice range of 17-320mm and minimal lens changes (dust comes to mind). A lot better than one (current) body with 3 lenses. Also, the 17mm on a 5D would be very nice compared to a 10mm on a 350D.
I would strongly try and save up and get that 5D now that is is best bang for the buck.
-
I am sure that the decision was a well-made one. Enjoy your new kit... I recently traveled to North America on a 5 week trip and that 16-35mm lens was used about 95% of the time on the 5D.
-
Oh, and I'd sell that EF-S lens also. The 16-35mm on your 5D will negate the need for that lens. Perfect reason to get that 16-35, and minimize the number of lens you have (whilst maximising on the dual focal lengths of your lenses because you have two bodies).
-
Just as William W mentioned, I'd suggest that you sell your sigma 24-70, save money by not buying another "decent" 24-70 replacement, and put it towards either a 17-40 or (better) 16-35. I am sure that the 16-36, 50, 70-300 combination will keep you happy 98% of the time.

Try shooting in B&W!!!

Try the Epson V700 or you can wait for the V750 Pro.... This will fall within your budget, and
will scan virtually anything.

Picasa recognises my G9 raw files (.cr2), but the colour is way off (makes the image look like faded 70's
photos). Does this happen to anyone else?
-
Q: Will the camera meter ok on aperture priority? Will I be able to focus/ compose with the
lens wide open and will the EOS stop the lens down when I take the pic?
A: Yes, it will work on Av, but you will have to manually set the aperture and it will stop
down immediately (i.e. dim view finder).

Use the FP/High Speed sync option on your flash if available, or use an ND filter.

Would you buy an extended warranty for Canon 5D Mk2?

NO... don't do it. Look-up the term "bath tub curve" under reliability engineering...

in a nut shell, things usually fail early or late in their lifecycle... once everything runs in and works well, chances are that they will keep on working. Buying additional warranty is like trying to beat the bank at insurance... don't bother, you will never win.
