  1. I too only got a chance to see Monte in a very compressed form - with Eddie Tap in Irvine last fall - and I learned more in those three hours than I ever have. You could tell he was in pain - but he soldiered thru, without missing a beat.

Oddly enough, what I learned from Monte that day, and thru two other photographers who had taken Monte's classes, just got put to practice for my first formal pro portrait shoots a couple days ago.

No matter what you thought about his style, Monte was a legend and a damn nice guy. I'm feel lucky to have been able to meet him, shake his hand and thank him for sharing his love for photography with me, even if just for the afternoon.

Thanks again, Monte. Rest easy now.

  2. For me, it's been tough going already - tonights game lacked any, ahem, shall we

say passion - it's like neither team wanted to win and this was CIF playoff

round one ! What I got I don't really love, but sometimes the cards, they don't

fall like ya hope, ya know what I mean :)<div>00JyoL-35007184.jpg.df0c8a29f93308a81329d672df5682e1.jpg</div>

Thansks for the compliments..It's a hard chose sometimes to crop really tight but in some instances, it's the right one.

And believe me, ref's everywhere in the world are in the way !

  4. Aram -

Good work - and I second what Carl said - go tight or go loose, but even on the lose, go a bit tighter..Ref's are rarely key photo components, ditch them.

I like the cycling stuff alot.

Take all this for what's it worth, as your gym and conditions are going to vary greatly..

I don't the Rebel series handles noise well above 800 - add a flash to your setup, rotate it towards the ceiling to bounce and soften the light and crank your shutter up to 250. At 125 your barely freezing any quick action.

Try that and see how it goes - the 85mm 1.8 is a sweet lens.

I found your post to be quite classless and without any regard for how hard those photographers work to get those pictures.

Pray tell, how did you entry in the Canon contest fair? May we see some of your nighttime high school football shots to compare?

Yes, one of the finalist's is a friend of mine, before anyone asks it.
