  1. In the past 6 months, this site has becoming increasing

disappointing. To start, the forums. Very often, an innocent thread

becomes a personal attack. Then the photo critique. Again and

again, I find irresponsible critiques. I have to say photosig is a

much better place, at least for the serious photographers.

  2. Hi,

    I'm looking for a longer lens. And I'm thinking 300/f4 or 80-400

VR. What do you think after hearing my requirements?

Image quality is my first requirement. Then the range, then the

    price/quality factor.

I first tried the 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6D ED, and found the images too

soft @ 300mm. Second, 300mm is not quite enough in some

    situations.

I consider the VR because, well it goes to 400. Also, I won't have

to carry the 80-200/f2.8. However, are the images stark sharp in 300-

400 range? For those who own the VR, do you still keep the 80-

    200/f2.8?

I consider the 300/f4 because it might produce sharper images. I

know 1.4 teleconverter is a good add-on, but I don't plan to get it

    asap.

    If I see a side-by-side image comparison, that'll be great. I've

searched the archive and didn't find the exact answer to my

question. If you can share user experience, I'd really appreciate

    it.

  3. I want to buy a Nikon SB-28 for macro & portraits. Then I learned

it's replaces by SB-80DX. Could anyone share some experience? Pros

& Cons? I'd especially appreciate a comparison between SB-28 and SB-

80DX. If SB-28 turns out to be better, I can still buy it on grey

    market. Thanks in advance.

  4. Has anyone succesfully cross-processed B&W film into slides? Any

    advice will be appreciated.

So far I found one answer:

"I do a lot of B&W slide stuff, and I find that Ilford XP2, exposed

at 80 ISO and push processed by two stops (E6-P2) makes superb

slides. The other alternative is Kodak release positive (Eastman) but

it's very slow, at about 1SO, and processed in D-19.

Though I understand the process, I don't fully understand why. Has

    anyone tried that?

    Thanks,
