Tom,
I usually buy my film here in the US. For development and prints, I would recommend IQ Lab. They are the best in Bangkok.

choice choice choice...
My first trip to Cambodia a few years back, I brought so much stuff that I ended up spending more time fiddling with my gear than taking pictures.
Last year, I went back with just my trusty 24mm and a 50mm. My pictures came out better.
These days, I only use a 35 'cron for everything.

used 35 summicron version 4.
-
You could also look at a more affordable alternative such as AF-D 80-200 f2.8. I am putting mine up for sale. It's a great lens - tact sharp but too heavy for a scrawny guy like myself.
-
Could anyone please recommend me a professional-quality canvas printing service?
Either online or Boston-area.
Thanks.

Donate it to goodwill.
;)

thanks a lot guys

What are the cosmetic differences between 35 Summicron version 3 and 4? I've
looked on Cameraquest, but didn't help much.

Aight sounds like time to "buy, buy, buy"

The V, 5000ED, and 9000ED have been on the market for a few years, i believe.
Does anyone know if Nikon will come out with a new film scanner anytime soon?

Has anyone ever tried putting a DK-17m Magnifying Eyepiece on a F100 or a F3
(non-HP)? Is this possible?
-
Thanks for your responses guys. Seems like I have to head over to a camera store to try them out. Just hope that I won't see a M6 or a M7 in the store...

I'm interested in migrating to Leica R system. Since the secondhand prices for
these model (r6, 6.2, 7, and 8) are pretty close, I can't decide. Can anyone
give me any suggestion? Also, which one of the three models has less mirror slap
vibration and sound?

F3 all the way! My F100, F90x, D70 don't see as much use and trust as my hand me down F3. The light metering pattern is excellent, the viewfinder is big and bright (better than the rest of my camera). The cloth shutter is smoother and well...sounds a lot smoother than the FM2n or FE2 metal counterparts. Tough as hell too...heck, when i got mine, the viewfinder had a huge dent like it was dropped from the second story, but the camera functions so perfectly.

I've never tried the Canon 70-200 2.8L (non-IS). But I've used the 70-200 4L for quite a bit. And trust me, the optic of the Nikon is way better.
-
AF-D 80-200 is the best price/performance combination, IMO. It's not as big and expensive as the af-s counterpart. It also has less glass, which make it a little more stable than the af-s and IS versions.

Last time I went, 24 prime and 28-70 works best for me. If i were to go back again, i'll probably just take 24 and a 50 and a bunch of tri-x and velvia.

thanks alan!

As much as other people love F100's impressive autofocus capability, I still
prefer manual focus with G type screen on my F3 for low light shooting. Any
suggestion on Nikon or 3rd party bright focusing screen like the G type?

Thanks guys.
"commercial adhesive remover?"

After spending a couple of years unused in a camera bag, the back cover of my
F90x is melting. It's very sticky and wouldn't clean with soap / water. This
happens to both my standard and the data back. Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance,
T
Talk me out of buying a 50 1.2L
in Canon EOS Mount
Posted
From what i've seen, I like the way the 50 1.2L renders images. The only issue is...it's too cheap! Come on guys, only $1.4k compare to $5k for the Leica noctilux? Clearly the Leica is 3.6 times better than the Canon.
:D
