1.
Well, the camera went from bad to worse with a bit of tapping so it went back to the store who kindly refunded me, in spite of it having been 'sold as seen.'
I suspect the money will, however, go on a NOS 24/2.8 from Ffordes.

 2.
It was my favourite FD zoom during my film photography days from '96-2005 (I could never see the point of AF as a young man...). Unfortunately my first copy suffered a drop and as a consequence snapped at the lens mount - my current copy also has an incredibly bad zoom mechanism which makes it hard to use unless kept dead level. So yeah, the build is an issue!
I do, however, think it's a very good lens optically. In that respect, I tested a the FD 28-85/4 against my Contax 28-85 and, while leagues apart in build quality, there was very little to choose between them sharpness-wise on the Sony A7r. The Contax was marginally better at the long end, the Canon was arguably stronger at the wide end.

 3.
Oh and Hi there again - I've not been around these parts for ages as I've been shooting my Contax/Yashica gear but New Year, New Gear!

 4.
Hi Guys,

I have problem with a New F1 with AE head that I picked up cheaply not long ago. The camera is in very good cosmetic condition, the shutter fires and everything else works well. However... In manual mode, at the extremes of the speed range (e.ge from B to 1/15th and 1/250th - 1/2000th & AE the shutter speeds in the finder start to slip from those on the dial. This might not be so bad but at the 'fast' end with the flag in the body only partially covers the scale when it goes into AE mode. Since I use AE most of the time the slippage is less important but having the issue and having both exposure scales on view scales on view bugs me.

I suspect this may be an issue that comes from lack of use and that if I work it I may find it improves but wondered if anyone has experience of a similar problem?

 5. The best thing about APS IMHO was the Contax Tix. I had one and it was a truly wonderful thing.
 6. 1977's Canon Datelux must be one of the first. This... http://www.canon.com/c-museum/en/product/film98.html
