LOL! What a great shot! Were you shooting something else at the time you noticed her stick a straw in your arm or did you have to go and get the camera?
Would have been funny to see the before and after shot.....

me again- to be a little more specific try this:
In photoshop
1. open image
2. Duplicate it
3. invert and desaturate duplicate, then change layer to overlay, then apply a gaussian blur to your liking.
4. add a gradient set gradient layer to soft light
5. From the original image go to image/adjustments/shadows and highlights and play around with those setting and see what you get.
I hope this helps

Yeah I had the same issues when i tried to shoot caves. No tripod and only a flash. Which is awesome because they take the time to put in great lighting for the caves.
Have you tried it has an HDR.? I threw your image into photoshop and played around with some simple tweaks and got some nice effects. Then adding some burning would help as well. Working from your raw file would obtain more desirable effects then a reworded j-peg. If you get it just right you will have a very rich and dynamic shot.

LMAO!!!! great idea! Although the perspective you created for the missing head doesn't match. I think you may need to go a little more #D to match the body placement. The only thing holding it back from a perfect 7/7

caves are tricky because you (I, me and all others) can never quite capture what is there as it all just seems unnatural below. taking this into photoshop might bring out the natural beauty of the cave.

I love grave yards, but for me dynamic angles are key of they to be interesting. Plus the framing is awkward. Maybe if you get rid of the transparent frame it may be more interesting.

After experimenting with HDR and coming back to this image I can't help but wonder if you did a little HDR work on this photo?
-
I wish the image was larger, this looks to be a very well composed and exposed image. But the size does not reflect the shear scale you captured.

very Ansel Adams. A perfect B&W. Nicely done.

Thanks Gail. Rome is an amazing place and a lace that I could shoots 1000 times over and over. So much life and history. The Colosseum I photographed every day because every day the cobble stones of Rome lead me there lol.

Great job, although I find bees far more easy to capture a photo of. Ants on the other hand are near imposible so good on you. And you still (within the .00001 of a second) managed to get deep colors great focus and a good composition.
I love bugs!

Wow, well you did a great job as the effect is very similar. It looks like a dream. I love it.

Is this one of those HRD (or something named as such) where you take multiple photos each one focusing on a specific exposure then photoshop all images together to create a hyper reality image?
Either way greats stuff!

Excellent! Macro is one of my favorite shots. Although I lack a mack lens in my own kit I do my best.
This shot I can only imagine the pain you went through. Either the creature was flying about and you waited and waited or the sweat dripped from your palms until you clicked the final and best shot before it whisked away.
The green leaf and the leg positioning make for a very grasping image. Makes me want to dish out the money to compete with this shot.
Thanks!
