1. Hi Dieter, Your note is consistent with my dilemmas and thinking. BUT, I would still love to use my primes if possible....Just trying to understand how to do that well, if it is at all possible.
 2. Bodies Two a7RII The lenses I currently have are Sony FE 28mm f 2.0 Sony 21mm adaptor for the 28mm f2.0 (makes the 21mm f2.8) Sony Zeiss FE 55mm f1.8 Sony GM FE 85mm f1.4 Sony Zeiss FE 24-70 f4 Sony FE 70-200mm f4 This collection is not too heavy. I tend to shoot with the 28mm and the 85mm most of the time and I find the IQ to be quite good. Generally I find the 55 a bit too long or too short so use it less often. Dieter, why would you prefer the zooms. I know Sony has a new f4 24-105. Have you tried it? But I am wondering about how to think about travel photography with prime lenses. Are primes too restrictive in terms of focal length to deal with the variable focal length needed?
 3. For many years I have relied on zoom lenses with my Nikon gear. More recently, I have switched to Sony 7 series and fast prime lenses. Feb 2018, my wife and I are traveling to New Zealand in a small group tour and I am wondering if anyone has experience or thoughts on choosing primes vs zoom lenses for travel photography in general and more specifically New Zealand. While we will experience some wildlife shooting opportunities, I suspect most of the pictures will be more landscape and/or people pictures. I am interested in the conceptualization around using primes in travel photography Thanks
 4. I recently upgraded to Lightroom Classic and the import of .ARW files has become very slow. Mac 10.12.6 on retina display mid 2012 MacBook Pro. Drag and drop files from card to external drive happens at 3GB/minute. Import same files into Lightroom Classic is 0.36 GB/minute. Suggestions? Thanks
 5. a7RII with Sony 85mm f1.4. Three frame HDR handheld
 6. Sony a7RII with Sony FE 28mm f2.0 with 21mm adaptor..
 7. I have moved from Nikon D800 over to Sony a7RII and have not touched my Nikon gear in over a year. Why, it is simple. The Sony provides for great images (maybe even better than my Nikon) and it can do everything I need. So I am in the process of selling all of my Nikon gear. If you are interested send me an email. There are a few things I miss: the 200-400 f4 Nikkor lens and off camera RF based flash. Sony is fixing the off camera flash issue this spring, supposedly
 8. 1/1000, f5.6, ISO 400 with a Sony a7RII and the 70-200mm f2.8 with 2x extender in continuous focus mode and AF-C priority set to AF. I was just testing the lens
 9.
For my trip to Africa with a Nikon D800 and a 200-400 f4 lens and used the The Pod The Red Pod Bean Bag Camera Support. See
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=762978&gclid=CjwKEAiAq8bEBRDuuOuyspf5oyMSJAAcsEyWaxKT75fdMDR4OXbMYCfXL23ntfzq_aCGH3DsOpwa_RoCOeDw_wcB&is=REG&ap=y&m=Y&c3api=1876%2C92051677562%2C&Q=&A=details
It worked very well

 11.
Actually there is some information on the display
http://www.apple.com/shop/product/HKN62LL/A/lg-ultrafine-5k-display

 12.
I have an older MacBook Pro (15") that I take with me when I travel. There are comments about the use of the small screen for editing, but consider the following idea. When I travel to my cottage, I take my MacBook Pro, active pictures on a USB external drive and plug the computer into a 27 inch Thunderbolt display. I now have a full fledged screen and computer with a wireless keyboard and mouse. I also use my Wacom Tablet with it. I use it to edit Sony a7RII uncompressed pictures (82MB a piece) and process video with Final Cut Pro X so there is plenty of horse power.
I have heard rumors that Apple is coming out with a new 5K Thunderbolt display, but have not heard anything specifically and the old one is discontinued.

 13. You should look at the Sony a7 series. The a7RII is an excellent camera.
 14.
I use Vello Wireless Shutterboss as an intervalometer with my a7R and a7RII for photography of meteors with the camera set on bulb. I turn off the long exposure noise reduction because it takes a long time to write the file.
I would not use the built-in iPhone wireless control as it really consumes lots of battery. If you are shooting for short time frames it might be ok.

 15.
The operating system on the external drive will need to be compatible with the hardware you are trying to start up. If the computer is old, newer operating systems will not boot.

 16.
My sense is this is not work you want to engage in and as such, if I were you, would gracefully extract myself from the wedding. The foreseen ongoing headaches if you do the wedding will keep you up many nights. And you will probably buy the local store out of antacids.

 17.
You should consider waiting for the new MacBook Pro to come out and the rumored new 27" Thunderbolt display (either 4 or 5K). You get portability with an option for a large monitor. BUT, neither of these choices are available today.

 18.
Can anyone comment on the image quality differences between these two drones. I have a Phantom 3 advanced and consider the image quality to be ok, but not great.
Thanks

 19.
I would be very hesitant to use a PC formatted drive for an extended period of time on a Mac. There is a reasonable chance that some of files will become corrupted. A cleaner approach is to get another second external drive (clean), format it for the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and move the files from the PC drive to the Mac drive. Verify that all the files have moved safely and then use the new Mac drive going forward.
On the Mac, if you highlight the drive in question and right click, a dialogue box will come up that gives you an option to 'Get info' about the drive. At the bottom of the info box is 'Sharing and permissions' and you might be able to simply change those items, particularly if administration privileges.

 20.
Thanks Shun. Not sure whether I am affluent enough, but I am of the right age!

 21.
@ Shun.... have you used Joe Van Os and if yes, I would be curious as to your experience with them?
