1.
@Karim,
Thank you so much for taking the time reading the blog and especially thank you for your comments. Love them :o)
Re #10. I wouldn't mind an F-word, here or somewhere else. Sometime we need to go beyond words and say the things we think :o). 'Art' is so subjective.
Please come back visit the blog from times to times as I will be posting some other shoots with this amazing Leica M240.

  2.
Thank you everyone for your comments.
@Kaj Froling:
I set the camera in Jpeg + DNG just to play around and I also wanted to check what in camera processing would do to black & white Jpegs. The results are god enough to use the out of camera files. If there is a need for further process/edit then I can still fall back on the DNG files
@Bill Mitchell:
It's the Leica M Ty240 (B&H link here)

  3.
It's been a bit more than two weeks that I have my Leica M240 and coming from the M9, this new camera is just amazing.
I started shooting JPEG with the M9 but the ISO capability of the M9 was a bit limited to my liking...
Now I really feel confident to shoot in JPEG with the Leica M240 at ISO 3200 and in JPEG.
Here are some samples shot in Chicago a week ago and some recent work, a fashion shoot with only the Leica M240: http://nomadphotography.com.au/blog/2013/laurens-mad-men-shot-with-a-leica-m240/

This is truly an amazing camera.
Feedback and comments welcome

Thank you.
4.
It's strange that we still don't have a Like button for (some of the) comments in the forums.

The whole point of the article was to share and show the difference between sensors sizes. The same thing would exist between crop sensor and full frame sensor.
I may be one of the only few who think that 20MP in a medium format sensor is still better than 40MP SLR sensor just for the dynamic range, level of details, the size of the sensor ... Ultimately dSLRs might catch up one day..?
May be it's just me :o)

If you have to jump the bus to take a picture or spray and pray then MF is not for you, or maybe you rely too much on what your SLR can do for you that you forget all about the image? I have NO problem with that. It just would not stop me from doing what I love and certainly not stopping me from having a leak when doing what I love turns me on .. :P

  5.
Hi folks,

Not sure where to share this so I thought I'd put it here since I have done this shoot with a Canon 5D Mark III along with a Hasselblad H4D40.
We all see an increase of MP in recent dSLRs and a majority of us would recommend to go for a FF camera when it comes to advise someone for the purchase of a new body ...
Aside from the number of pixels that can be cramped in a 24x36mm area, medium format, even at lower MP count, can be ... I always wet something when shooting with a MF.
There is a link to a full size image included (way too big to post in here).
Any feedback ..?
Take care.
6.
It took a bit of time to find a site to host a big video but finally it's here.
Why is Leica what it is and why do people use it?
Hear it form Leica's own ambassador... It's not what you expect. Flick the full screen button.

Thank you for your comments. I'll take them in account for my photography.
I actually took those photos in 'prefocusing' mode as I was recording video with my iPhone at the same time. I'll post the video up soon :o)

Vahe Sahakian,
There is a french saying: "Quand on aime, on ne compte pas" .. But I do agree with you that these are in no way better image making boxes than the Leica M9 because they share the same internals..

Starvy Goodfellows,
Thank you for your comments. Seal is Leica Ambassador so I guess he is paid by Leica to promote their products.. But wait till I post the video because Seal did "bash" Leica a fair bit ..

Richard G
Thank you for your comments. I only use the M9 for more than a year but am very familiar with the Leica equipments, especially back to the day when my father used a Leica M2.
Seal is actually one of the judges of the show The Voice, a reality talents show in Australia, so I guess it was practical to have him stopping by.
I was however amazed by how down to earth Leica people were.

David W. Griffin
I think there is a reason why Leica is what it is and I hope Leica will retain this tradition for many years to come. Like it or not, one can not be indifferent to Leica.

  8.
I've been invited to the launch of the Leica M Monochorm and the Leica M 50mm APO Summicron ASPH by the Sydney Leica Store, FotoRiesel.
I wanted to share some insights of a fantastic event and especially a particular guest: Seal.
Check this out:
9.
For sure it was a quick excited post at around 2AM here in Australia...
Also on the blog I put some shots in Av, AWB and auto ISO...
Well, it seems that leaving the camera doing its thing still give better results than the 5D Mark II with same settings..
I'll be shooting a wedding tomorrow so will be putting it to the test in a real shooting assignment..
After all, it's just a camera right? But it is so much fun to play with new toys when it become available.

Bless all.
One more at ISO 4000:
10.
I was lucky enough to get my hands on some of the first 5D MarkIII available in Canberra, Australia Capital, last Thursday.
It couldn't be better timing as I had a fashion shoot planned for the saturday.
Although I wanted to shoot with this new Canon 5D Mark III, I did the shoot with my Hasselblad H4D40.
Here is one shot with the 5D3, converted into jpeg with DPP and then edited with CS6 beta.

Check out the set of BTS images here (mainly shot in Av and auto ISO mode): http://nomadphotography.com.au/blog/2012/03/behind-the-scenes-with-the-canon-5d-mark-iii/

  11.
I use both bodies and shoot wedding.
I find that the 1D4 focus more easily than the 5D2 during dark reception.
Extended AF points on the 1D4 is a plus when it come to focusing in low light with moving subjects

  12.
Wow,
Quantity primes here.
How about making sure that you have the right shot from the landscape in one go and in big RAW ?
You'll find out that shooting 20 millions photos because storage is cheap is a NO-NO way of thinking.
Just imagine to spend about 30 seconds per image per assignment when you come back with 5 000 images from ONE shoot.

I do weddings and YES I switch to medium RAW for receptions and some detailed shots.
And yeah, my most popular albums are 15x15 (opened at 30x15) and images look good on full double spreads.
Pixel peeping is just non sens for me.

  13.
I have both 1D3 and 1D4 and also the D3s and for my wedding photography never had any AF issue (yes I use Ai Servo alot as well).
The introduction of AF fine tune has given people some control that may have led to misuse and people claim fiasco :)
From think link (http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2010/02/vancouver_2010_part_1_of_2.html ) most of the photos are captured using Canon 1D4.
Not the same speed as for wedding ...
Yeah I can hear from here people asking for 300% crop and out of camera thing. It's another debate.
