  1. People have been getting great shots from 2mp cellphone digicams to the mammoth polaroid 20x24 camera. I don't think the question is so much about resolution, as in what works best for you and your approach to photography. I find that photography is not so much about the final product as it is about the process of getting to the final product. Using the camera, visualizing the scene, anticipating the result, trying to improve constantly, just enjoying yourself and appreciating; this is what makes photography so fun and special. The killer image is just the bonus at the end of the road.

The only people who should be concerned with resolution, dpi, and end product are the professionals who make a living off of it, who know that if it ain't perfect they won't get paid.

There you go. Out of my system now.

  2. Thank you. One camera that looked interesting in my research was the Fuji GW690. Looked like it was durable and relatively compact. Only has a single lens, which isn't much of a drawback as long as it is standard - slightly wide. Main interest - decent 6x9 exposure area. I've been using a 4x5 monorail which isn't super portable with a single lens for 2 years now, so am not against having a single lens - if sharp. What is your opinion of it? I can get a Fuji GW690 ii with 90mm f3.5 at keh.com for 569 dollars. Or the iii version for 819$.
  3. I am looking into getting a portable medium format camera. What would you recommend and is best bang for the

buck? I do not need a new model or with fancy features but would like one with good glass. I am afraid, I don't

have much else to say, total newbie I'm afraid. I would take portraits / landscape / architecture for the most

part. Mainly, portable and hand-holdable is key. Will be taking travelling, so decent durability is good too.
