1. Have you tried shooting at 1/1000 better?

As I see in the Exif from your second picture: f9 at 1/400 might be too slow for a 300mm (450in at 7200).

If you open a couple of stops you will get lot more speed.

    Good luck Martijn.

    Thank you, I'll try tomorrow.

  2. Hello,

It's been a while! I recently bought a second hand D7200. It's realy an upgrade from my D300. It produces very sharp pictures of birds in my garden with my 70-300. However when I'm shooting flying birds from about 30 meters, there's no sharpness at all. I've tried AF-c Af-s Af-a, but it makes no difference. What can be the problem here. On my D300 I've never had any problems. Here are two pictures at 300mm, one close by and one far away: both crops. Thanks!

    Regards Martijn van Tol

  3.
I looked at the Tokina 50-135 and the Sigma 50-150 II. I bought the Sigma. It's very sharp and contrasty (from 2.8!), build very well, and has HSM (AFs in Nikon terms). I'm still very happy with it, and it's on my camera for 70% of the time.

  4.
Still, there are some VERY good pictures on this site (photo.net is not only a forum site ;) taken with those "over the hill" camera's. It's not the camera, it's the brains behind it that can use a camera to unleash creativity. I fall into this trap when being lazy or uninspired. I think my gear isn't good enough, but most of the time, I'm not good enough ( I'm talking as an amateur here :)

  5.
In my opinion DX is no con and no pro, neither is FX. Based on image quality D300 and D700 are very good. I think it's time people buy bodies based on their lens need. I for instance like the Sigma 50-150 2.8 II so much, that I decided to buy another DX (D300) camera. Would I "upgrade" to D700, not only would I have to buy new lenses, but for the same reach I would be lumbering a 1.5 kg lens (80-200 or 70-200) and I know myself a little: heavy gear stays home after a while . So if you want to start building up a system first find out what lenses you realy want, than decide which body to buy. regards, Martijn

  6.
Arthur,
D300 is geen speeltje, net zo min als de D700, welke dezelfde goede beeldkwaliteit levert als de D300, behalve iso 3200 en hoger, waar de D700 iets beter is. Jij ook gefeliciteerd.

  7.
Photo.net makes use of some websites that put advertisments on your screen, when loading a new page. Normaly this is no problem, but every time I want to open a forum post, it takes about 10 seconds. My browser tells me it's waiting for adtuition.com, than goes to google.com, and than after 10 seconds I can read the forum post. This is realy annoying. Can I do something about it?
regards, Martijn

  8.
This week I got my new D300! Comming from D80 (not a bad camera, which I"ll still be using on city trips etc.) it's quite a tool! My sigma 50-150 2.8 fits realy well on it and I love this combination (why doesn't Nikon make one, or 40-150 2.8!) and it's REALY sharp. I didn't want to wait on a D300s/D400 for it would be too expensive and I don't want video (I don't like to pay for things I don't want). But so far there isn't much left to desire!
regards, Martijn
