Evalute the light, perhaps Portra 800 for fast action indoors. Your rewind speed with 36-exposure film is Approx. 7 seconds or (12 seconds in CS mode). Have your film separated and ready to load. Know your equipment well.
Cheers!!

Don, I read your blog, and checked out your awesome photos, outstanding! What film did you use? Medium Format is the way to go.
If you set your F3 to "Aperture Priority" and adjust the exposure compensation
dial to '-1' or a '-1/3' example, will the camera read the compensation
changes, or must you be in manual mode?
thank you.

Is this camera still being produced?

$30,000 buys a lot of film. Get a new film camera Canon EOS-1V or a Nikon F6, buy a plane ticket to a hot spot where there is action, and go for it! You will have more of a chance reaching the top of your league than by listening about the theory and history of photography, by someone who is just into living in a safe world. Create/Make your destination.....live it.

"The film is 24 inches by 20 inches; it costs $100 every time she snaps a photo." Dorfam says.
She is definitely dedicated!

I have a F1N/AE that I got off of the bay in '07, and I need to send it to someone who can do a CLA on it. The shutter fires, but on the second time firing the shutter, it is significantly slower. Plus I need to find a lens for it, perhaps a 28/2.8 would do me just find. I want to get this baby out and shoot some film on it!
-
From a reliable source, the ZF 28/2.0 will be available in Dec. 07. Price point somewhere between $900-$1000. I still want one for my F3HP!

David, think about the depreciation on a new camera. Your FD, has already finished depreciated. Put your money on beautiful photos with Velvia!! Would you want to carry so much weight around like a 5 lbs. DSLR?
-
Soo,
Awesome, do you have a flikr.com account to see more?
Mark

Soo, let me be the first one to congradulate you on your wicked arsenal of a camera!! AWESOME to the POWER of TEN!! I am similar to you, as I have a F3HP/MD4, 24/2.8, 28/2.8, 85/1.4, and just recently aquired a F1N/AE serial number 252XXX, and I will be sending it in for a full CLA. Then I will go shopping for a FD lens. Then the best of both worlds!!
Have you seen the various 50's at kevincameras.com in LAX, as they have a very nice collection of mint FD lenses.
Do you have any test shots from your 55 FD 1:1.2 SSC Asperical that we could see?
Awesome set up!! Two thumbs Up! High Five!

Brian, check with KevinCameras.com in LAX, as they are a purveyor of Canon FD. Also, maybe Craigs List. This is a tough one to find, but with time you may luck out.

Hey Mark, Wayne I think has the desire to return to a F1N! It just is a cool camera. I think when you have one, everyone who does not have one or had one, wishes they had a piece of 80?s technology, as holding plastic DSLR whatever, does not have the umph! Many people are returning to film after a few years of machine gun shooting pixels.

Wayne, I do have a Nikon SLR that I put together in 2005, piece by piece, F3HP/MD4, 24/2.8, 28/2.8, 85/1.4 all AIS lenses. I use the F3 alot. I just wanted the F1N to use also, because I think it is a great camera, and I know I will be using this camera as well, for some B&W and print film. I think it is cool that many different cameras from the 70's and 80's, people are clinging too and putting them back into use, as apposed to going full digital. I have a digital point and shoot which sometimes I use but not often. I love the weight of the F1N, the feel, the brass is showing a little. I know I will be pleased putting this F1N back into service. A 28mm wide angle is just perfect and the most useful less I have come to known. There is a 'zen' about a 28mm. I was once bent on a 50 SSC or a 55 SSC, but I keep coming back in my thinking as I use a 28 a lot on the F3, and a 28 is just perfect for street, close ups, cityscape, landscape. It just works better. I do not need any other lens. A F1N/AE and a 28mm wide angle lens. Just the perfect all round camera to go anywhere, do anything! I am content!
-
Thanks Wayne. I will be looking for the 2.0 version. Lucky you with a sencond F1N body!

I have a F1N with the AE finder and I will be sending it out to get it CLA'd,
as I am just building my FD system. I do want a wide angle lens, but not a
24mm lens nor a 20, those are too wide. Between the two versions of the 28 FD,
which would you get? I am a wide guy true and true. What can I expect to pay
for a 28 these days?
thanks
MArk.

John, under the seller of tmo-ph, on ebay, item number 110166766728, is your 50mm FD 'L for a $499 USD buy it now. Good luck in your quest.
cheers Mark
-
Ben, thanks. I am going to go ahead with a CLA, and look for a lens. Will see what happens. Maybe sell it. Depending on the day and the demand on the auction site, one can have some luck as a seller, depending how you promote your product. I am not saying this will happen too me. I am looking forward to the day using this camera, and having some fun. Maybe I will give this one to my father.
thanks Mark

Gene, shoot Fujichrome Provia 100F, Provia 400X, Velvia 50. Then you are covered.
-
Rick thanks! It does need a CLA, as the shutter fires, but on the second and third fire, the velocity continuous to drop and drop. My camera is clean inside and out. But it needs a CLA. There are some very reputable tech's in the USA, who offer their services via ebay, and outside of ebay. I have been tracking prices of F1N's and some are going well above the $375-$400 mark on some, and the seller says it would benefit from a CLA. I have to it CLA's, then I will seen if I will sell.
thanks
Mark

I have Canon F1N with AE finder, that is in excellent shape that I purchased
earlier ths year for $300 USD. It needs a CLA. I know the cost is around $150
or so. If I get it CLA'd, and I decide to sell it right away, will I recover my
money or will I loose money when selling it. You would think that fresh CLA'd
F1N/AE would go for more than the market price. My serial number is 252XXX.
What would you do?
Mark

KevinCameras also is a ebay seller, and might have your 50 FD 'L' lens that your are searching for. If you need mint or almost new, and you have the money, and this is the lens you 'must' have then just go for it. You will pay a lot for the lens, but, then you have the 'holy grail' of lenses mounted on your camera. Kevin is under ebay seller 'gokevincameras'.
Let us know what happens on your quest for a 50.

At what price has everyone been paying for their CLA, @ Ken?s, Steve?s etc....
thanks Mark
