I had the exact dilemma. In my case I shoot a Horseman 6x7 view camera. I scan with a Minolta MultiPro. A fellow photographer named Klaus Puska has published a very detailed analysis between the Mamiya 7 and the Canon 5d Mark II. He even gives you the files to download and print yourself. Which is what I did. The answer for me at least was revealing Here is the link:
I had the same problems with my Jobo ATL-2. The solution is two parts.
1)Yes do a prewash for 1 minute.
2) Lower your processing temp so that you extend your processing time to at least 90 seconds to 2 minutes in the developer. I don't recall the exact temp but you should be able to look it up.
good luck
I too have a MultiPro with Vista 64. The only software that will work is Vuescan. What I did was make my PC dual boot with XP just so I can use the Minolta software. I like it better. The ICE dust removal is much better than Vuescan.
good luck

I downloaded the demo and used it with my Minolta MultiScan Pro. The Minolta software is useless for scanning negs hence my interest. If you have a lot of different types of negatives then it could save a lot of time. As for me I standardized on just one type of neg (Fuji Reala) so my Photoshop action gave me the same results as his plugin. So I didn't buy it.

You didn't say what HP printer you are using. I have used the HP DesignJet 130 with canvas from Breathing Color. They sell a swellable polymer canvas perfect for dye inks. hope this helps

The Velvia look is much more than just cranking up the saturation. A much better way is to use this free action. It converts your image to LAB space adjusts the saturation and then back to RGB space. Highly recommended.

I have two packages of this paper that I no longer need. One is still sealed the other may have one or two sheets used. If you are interested let me know. I would be happy to get rid of it pretty cheap. I bought this paper 6 years ago thinking I would do a lot of panos. Instead I use my HP DJ130 with roll paper.
hope this helps

Browning along edges of scan

If this scan is from a color negative, then it is flare from the unmasked edge of the negative. Make sure your neg is completely masked no there is large blank orange area.
