but I do agree with knut, I personally am not partial to HDR landscape shots, my eyes don't see them as natural more ehtereal..

I had been driving up to bishop hoping to get some decent shots of the sunset behind Mono lake tufa, but wasn't able to make it on time. I was watching the sunset while driving and it only got better and better, so I decided I had to stop to take some photos with these pretty mountains just happening to be behind it.

 

So I pulled off at the next turn planning to drive around a hill obstructing the direct view to get a better shot. As I drove, I came upon a shanty-town which I decided to avoid for my own safety. So I pulled off and decided to use this old broken down corral as foreground interest.

 

Needless to say I heard people from the shanty-town on radios talking about me being there making me quite worrysome, I did my best to shoot and run the hell outta there!

to get the timing right for tide it took quite a while and I was lucky

to even get one like this.

 

i did get broadsided by one wave and almost lost my camera! i went

home wet but o boy was it worth it :)

jens: I agree, I should have used the tripod from on top of my car to get better perspective! I have seen others do the same, but just recently read about it again and made the realization much later :) maybe next time...

Making a day trip to the valey does pay off... these are the last

rays of light in the valley hitting the leaning tower. I was getting

raped by mosquitos while waiting for the light to be just perfect.

I do see how that has a huge effect, i was perched pretty pecariously at the top of the boulder shooting down...
