Thanks for the feedback. Oddly there was no polarizer used in this shot, just a split/graduated ND filter that resulted in darkness at the top of the photo. Again these are color negs which are scanned so the results vary. The actual prints are a lot richer and more color accurate.

Thanks for comment Brad. This was shot with Fuji NPC 160 negative film, and then scanned, so I'm sure the scanning process creates random color variations. THere is no post production work here just the scan from my local lab. The actual print I made is better and more accurate. Glad you like it.
  1. I've done a lot of backpacking throught the Dolomites (the Alta Via 2 or High route 2) so this is a shot I couldn't get on foot! But yes, it is soft/bright at the top and too dark at the bottom.

What you need is a split neutral density filter (color grad) filter, that has shading on one half and clear on the other (most filters will also get rid of the high elevation haze you see in the photo as well). This will allow you to better blend the bright sky with the darker foreground and make the light more even throughout the photo. You could also use a polarizing filter to bring out the clouds in the sky as well. Once you learn how to use these filters, your photos will improve dramatically. Otherwise, a very cool shot. The light in the middle is great.
