Sigma 10-20mm is only $479. It has HSM, I have one one of these. Very sharp lens but plagued by copy variations.

-

The wider it gets the more expensive it becomes. You're paying for 15mm of width.

thanks jerry

does anyone the colour temp of the 400BX's. Thanks.

where must lens height be in relation to the model when shooting a full length shot. thanks.

I want to setup a few Nikon SB26's (has in-built slave) and a few Vivitar HV285's (with Wein peanuts) as studio flashes. I will trigger them all with a manual shoe mounted flash on my Canon 50D set at lowest power. I want to use the lightest and smallest flash to do this as it will have no influence on the lighting. Even using a 430ex makes the camera too unwieldy. Any suggestions please.

I have the 50D and recently bought the original 5D. I was disappointed with it's clunky performance. Compared to the quick 50D I found the 5D to have a noticeable shutter lag and a slow burst. Consequently I sold the camera.
Looking at the 5D markll it's burst is only slightly better. Is it's performance as clunky as the 5D? Is the slower performance an anomaly of full frame?

After further testing I've concluded that this only happens when I use flash..and I am shooting on P mode well within max sync.

My new 5D is giving me half a picture whenever I just start shooting. After a few frames the problem goes away. I've ensured that when using flash (430ex or 580ex) that I'm well within max sync speed. In fact this attachment was taken at 1/60, f/5.6 with a 28-105 USM. What can I do?

I've just ordered a new PC but not the LCD screen just yet. I'd like widescreen but the technician said that any photo would be forced to stretch and I should consider a normal 4:3 LCD screen instead. Is this true? My graphics card is a NVidia Geforce gtx260 (black edition).

had it, sold it after a month. Rather try the 18-200, though no usm its a better lens optically.

I have to take a shot of a model's long hair blowing in the wind. Need help on a good fan to get this effect.

no reviews out yet, could you post your samples and opinion please?

Does this lens rotate when focusing.

Chantal I understand your budget constraints and you can do weddings with one of those lenses if you are going to
use flash a lot and if your venue is well lit. Perhaps the Canon 18-200. To get the best portraits buy a 50mm f1/8, it's
cheap but that will give really nice blurred backgrounds. For flash I'd suggest a used 420EX.

$700 and no USM? I'm skipping this one.

Tight budget portait zoom with great range is 28-135 IS USM.
-
I'm not happy. I have Canon 28-135, 100-400, 70-300, 50 f/1.8. Would have liked an IS L lens to cover a similar field the way the 24-105 does on a 5D.

Hi, I'd like some suggestions of good photo albums from Ebay stores. Thanks.

Thanks Richard. The eye did come out very sharp and at 400mm. The hi-lights on the feathers do look a bit clipped.

I have to say that I'm very pleased at the maturity of this forum. In other forums I'm quite used to being met with a fierce roasting with the mere mention of the Canon word. I really love the spec (and reviews) of the D300 but I'm sticking with my Canon 40D and 100-400USM for now until theres theres some consesus of a fast equivalent lens from Nikon. I don't think that I'm a talented photographer just yet so I'm quite camera & lens reliant at the moment.

To answer some of your qustions the 40D's af points too far apart for tracking as Kerry mentioned. I do however find the 40D AF speed blazingly fast with the 100-400 USM and AF in very dim light achievable, just a pity Canon didn't follow the D300's example.
Canon 7D built-in flash - manual mode
in Canon EOS Mount

The 7D's flash has three setting: ETTLll, manual and multi-flash. The manual setting allows user to adjust the power output (like you would on a speedlight). Does this mean that the flash won't emit a preflash thus enabling it to be used to optically trigger studio slaves?
