  1. Just an update for those interested..

I went to Leica NJ this morning, and showed the camera to a tech. He saw the pictures, and said it was an internal light leak and he would have to replace some seals.

Seemed to know exactly what the issue was, and said the problem could not be seen without opening up the camera.

Said that I should expect the camera to be ready by Tuesday.

Thanks to everyone who replied.. hope that my next roll will be leak-free!

    Cheers.

  3. Harvey, I think you are right.

You're referring to the strip of material along the top and bottom edges of the shutter opening right?

I looked closely, and there seems to be a little uneveness right at the top left corner.. you really have to look to see it.

In my case, I think the light only leaks through when there is a bright light coming from the top right side of the frame - you will notice this in the negs I have posted.

I tried replicating the same shots yesterday, and the result was exactly the same. Doesn't show up in other frames though.

I am thinking that shooting with the lens hood on would help resolve the issue, but cannot say for sure.

I think the camera is going to Leica NJ soon. Unfortunately.

    Cheers

  4. this was trix + 2 in d76 stock. in a standard jobo 2-reel tank etc. etc.

i doubt it's the processing because it shows up in the exact same spot on all 3 frames.. and the 2 rolls weren't developed together..

what part of the processing do you think it could be?

  5. Sorry for the repost, but I posted this in the BW-film forum earlier. From the 3

responses I thought this may be a better place for it.

I have what seems like a light leak in my MP. I have only seen it in 3 frames in

    the last 2 rolls.

To the naked eye, the shutter curtains seem to be in good shape.

Any help in diagnosing / repairing this problem would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

  6. Hey guys,

I'm getting these weird marks in the bottom left of some negatives. 3 frames

    over the last 2 rolls.

Just for the record these were shot on a Leica MP, using Tri-X pushed 2 stops in

d76 (stock). I'm not sure whether this is a processing issue or a camera issue.

Would really appreciate yr help in figuring out what's going on!

    Cheers,

    Nishad

  7. Leon: I am guessing that it is a battery issue - taking it out and reinserting it probably warms it up since you're touching the battery.

Stephen: Keeping it in a bag probably kept the battery less exposed than walking around with camera in hand. Either way, it's just conjecture at this point..

    Thanks for yr input guys.

  8. Hello everyone,

I thought I had read about this on a forum somewhere, but I cannot seem to find

    the thread anymore.

I have noticed that when I walk around NY in the mornings, my MP meter seems to

stop working after some exposure to the cold. First the middle dot stops

showing, followed by the right and left triangles.

This takes about 30mins in temperatures around 20F. It returns to normal once I

come in to warmer temperatures. Maybe it has to do with the batteries freezing

up, more than the camera itself.

Apart from the metering, the camera functions as normal. Just wondering if

others see this issue as well.

    Thanks,

    N

  9. Hey guys,

Just yesterday I noticed that when fully extended, the rewind knob (well the

extended shaft) is slightly shaky on my MP. I haven't felt this before when

rewinding films, and was wondering if this is a new development..

It still rewinds, and hasn't become an issue yet, but it's been playing on my

mind so I thought I would ask..

Please let me know if any of you has experienced this before.. If you haven't

paid attention to it, I would love to know if the rewind shaft on yr MP is

shaky at all (when fully extended)..

    Thanks a lot!

    Nishad

  10. All: thanks a lot for your responses.. will try some of the things mentioned, but wont worry too much until i have tried printing the negs i guess..

@ Peter: Could you explain how the neg would get flatter with overdevelopment? (I would have thought the opposite?)

@ Colin: Those are useful tips, will try them out..

    thanks!

  11. had this problem with the last couple of rolls of trix i developed at 400. in

most negs the highlights and darkest shadows seem to be fine, but the midtones

are excessively flat and without separation.

shot on a leica mp with 35 cron (these were exposed at a stop over the

recommended meter reading - but it doesn't make sense that overexposure is the

    cause of this midtone issue)

    developed for 9:45 min in d76 (1:1) at 20C.

scanned with a konica minolta dimage dual scan iv.

examples attached. any ideas what could be causing this?

thanks in advance for your help!<div>00HP2L-31354584.jpg.d596354056a1e77f6a9384f0d7906ea7.jpg</div>
