Sure 580 is top of the line. And take a look on the Gary Fong lightsphere. You'll find it here:

I have just received mine. It took 5 week.
I started online (you'll find address on their rebate form). After 4 weeks I called them to check the status - they didn't update info online. After that everything was done in one week.

Sorry, didn't read the last part of your post!

Did you shoot in Manual Mode? In Av camera may compensate for the "dark" image if black background takes more then 1/2 of the frame.

He is joking, I guess.

Hello everybody! Thanks for your suggestions! I really appreciate your help!
Yes, I want to sell pictures I already have in my portfolio. Michael, what is the next step after portfolio? If I will print it as a book, where will you recommend me to send it? Does anybody have experience with stock? And if I will build my own site - what is the right way to promote it? Where may I get the release form to sign if I will take portraits?

Hello. I live in Brooklyn. I really enjoy photography. I'm spending almost all
my income for gear (hi Canon!). And I'm more poet than a businessman. Although
I have family. Can anybody give me advise how to start sell picures? I'm not a
Pro but I'm serious enough in what I'm doing.
I'll be appreciate for any info!

I've never use 5D. But I do have two 30D and both are very nice with 800& 1600. All you need - correct exposure and in some cases reduce contrast and saturation settings.
-
I would try to reduce contrast and saturation settings. In pair with correct exposure it should help.
-
As per Gary Fong - use sRGB.
-
So what's going on? Did you call Canon?
-
Why do you need all that MP?!
-
You're lucky - it's still under the warranty! I think you should send it back to Canon and ask for replacement, not for repair!

Just tried 50mm f1.4 lens. Same result.
-
It's really very strange. That day I shoot with the 30D and 24-70L lens.
Everything worked fine. Suddenly in Av mode the camera set 30sec shutter
speed. Normal exposure at that time was 1/125 at f5.6, ISO 100. I tried every
mode with the same result. In TV when I set the shutter speed, aperture was
f2.8 (max for that lens) and blinked. In Manual mode I was able to set any
exposure I want and the camera took correct exposed pictures. Although it
shows that I'm more then two stops underexpose.
I turned the camera OFF and ON, took out the CF card and put it back, took out
the lens and battery grip - nothing changed. I cleared all settings with the
same results. In 1-2 hours it started to work as it should for 7-10 pictures.
After that I got 30 sec shutter speed again.
Any ideas?

Hi. I made monitor calibration with the Color Vision Spyder2 PRO. I bought the
Canon i9900 and print didn't match the one on the monitor. OK. I created
Profile with the Print Fix. I went to the i9900 printer preferences, found the
new profile created by Print Fix and set it as default. I open CS2 "Print with
Preview" and choose "Let Printer Determine Colors". Media was set correct -
canon Plus Glossy. Print. The picture was 100% the same as the print I made
without creating Profile with the Print Fix. Didn't match that one from
monitor. Brightness, colors, contrast... What did I do wrong?
Should I change mannual-auto settings in the printer dialog window after
creating profile by Print Fix? Or after making that profile as a default no
changes needed with the same paper type and print size?
Should I check and enable "ICM"?
Any suggestions?
Sorry for the long explanation!

Thanks everybody! I have cleaned the sensor - wasn't a problem. But I still dissapointed (a little) that it was on the new body. Didn't tell you - I also found some spots on the focusing screen. It doesn't affect pictures but...
In all other aspects camera is pretty well.
Thanks!

Just received the new 30D. There're a lot of dust spots on the sensor. I know
I can clean. No problem. The question is that it's the Brand New Body. Does it
mean that I should expect any other surprises here?
used 20 for $800 or new 30D $1100
