  1. I really like it: it's simple and works well. Not over crowded, nothing acrobatic to the posing, but she grabs your attention. The gentle hair light is nice. It's also sexy, without being provocative and showing a lot of skin.

My only complaint is that the eyes have been over whitened in photoshop-- which I know is becoming more popular. And the focus (only noticable on the big image) was actually sharpest on her shoulder, and not the eyes. Maybe just a tad more space above the head, since her bottom is at about the 1/4 line.

  2. I'm intrigued by the number of 6's this has got, and that it was on my top rated photosearch. This is a snapshot: the flash is small, and leaves a hard shadow from the chin; the boy's face is out of focusp; and the perspective is not of the subjects. Additionally the lighting is flat.

I think fill flash was needed here-- or more fill, if you used it. It looks liek the photo had a lot of photoshop (or lab time) used to get the exposure in range. The smile lines are too deep for my liking, and the shadows too sharp for a female.

I disagree that's it's original-- almost as soon as HDR options were introduced, taking such pictures of wrinkled faces flooded the internet. Even non-HDR photos, high contrast, and overly layers became a cliche.

I like the focus, and tone-- perhaps a red filter was used b/c the water looks dark. I don't like horizons at an angle. I perfer dutch shots to not have water or a horizon in them, so they don't feel unnatural.

B/c of my time being brief, I'm only going to enumerate the errors. I wish you the best on your journey to improve.

The expression is dull. It's neither happy, nor thought provoking.

The ear rings are a distraction w/ the short DOF used to highlight her face (nicely), and should have been removed. The blouse color is a poor pattern/color choice to go w/ the background. The pose could use some basic portrait tweaks. The perspective is too high, and has you looking down on her. And try to avoid your reflection in her eyes-- the portrait is about her, not the photographer.

  3. I like clothing, and pose (though she seems a little tense while waiting for the picture), and the area. The columns are tilted about 2^ CCW. I do think the softar effect is too strong-- I think it would have worked for a head shot, where the eyes would have had more detail. I like it's effect on everything but her face mask, which I think it obscures too much. She seems to have a very lovely face to begin w/.

Started playing w/ some simple fill flash and outdoor river shots.

Wanted some feed back on where I am, and what could be done better.

This is gorgeous, and I wish I was at this bar. Reminds me of days drinking a 10 year tawny port and a nice strong cigar. Beyond what I can produce, but I would like to have seen a small bounce lighting the cut ends of the cigars just a tad.

I'm looking at it at home from a caliberated (sp?) monitor-- the head does have seperation. The lcd monitor at work must be clipping the lower tones.
