  1. Michael Mowery: I second to ditch the greenscreen. Why are you even using this? You are creating more problems and more work for someone who is new to photography. Besides you do not need a green screen to replace the background.

I was close to purchasing a Green Screen because of the varied backgrounds you may throw in, but IF there is an alternate means of doing this would you please share.

    Thank You,

    Doug

  2. Hello, Missed a "sale" op recently because I did not have Green Screen Kit & Softwar.

So I'm looking at info on line and there are a number of kits & software all claiming of course to be the best. AND, it appears there are 2 or more different shades of green being manufactured? Also we have options for paper or muslin, painted and even one manufacturer claiming thiers is the best as it is dyed threads that are then sewn into the green muslin ?

Long story short I need some guidance, suggestions of kits, software and what is best and most important things to look for.

    Thank You,

    Doug

  3. Thanks WW and Mark,

Appreciate the info/suggestions. Its so nice to have experienced folks to throw stuff to and get info back here on Photo.net.

Felt like I had it covered however lack of experience at VIP type events had me questioning if I wished to pursue this. I look at it as a great op and gaining much needed experience.

    Thanks .

  4. WW, its a new hospital reception, all I know now is that it will be held in "new hospital lobby/tent"

with company VIPs, corporate staff and elected officials enjoying the event".

And I think you are right on the lens choices, thank you. You can't cover everything, but 10-135 for an "indoor" event should work well.

    Thanks for the feed back.

  5. WW: I have 3 Canon lenses, 1-50mm f1.4 II, 1-10-22mm f3.5-45 USM, 1- 28-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS/AF

    and 1- Tamron 18-270 f3.5-6.3AF/IS.

I plan to use 580EX II Speedlites on both the 40D and 60D.

Lorne and Sarah, thanks for your info. DIM is a nice program.

    Mark, thank you for tips.

WW and Mark, I believe I was losing the sequence in Photoshop Elements post processing, I have Lightroom 2, but just haven't made good use of it, and I don't have Bridge system.

For scenics and such I usually shoot RAW, however I have not shot RAW in the one VIP type event and 2 weddings I have done when I had way less equipment, (sometimes simple might be best) so what is the thought process from you folks on that? I have 1- 2.0 GB and 2-4.0 GB and 1 16GB CF memory cards.

    Thanks,

    Doug

  6. I'm doing a VIP dinner event on a new facility dedication venue.

I plan to use two Canon bodies one 40D and the second one 60D.

Both will have flash and wondering about lens applications and image sequencing.

My initial thought was to go with one body with 18-270 zoom and one with 50mm?

The other thing is if I'm using two bodies, how to get the images married together in proper sequence during

    post processing?

    Suggestions?

  7. Hello,

Thanks David, here is what I have found out since OP. My site traffic link (Yola) shows 99 visits and 45 visitors in the last 30 days whereas MSN/Bing and Facebook were only reporting 12-24!

I don't think I will continue to pay SEO's. I'm thinking the key, at least one of them is effective keywording of all my images. And continue the self promotion process however possible. Site has only been published7 months so....

Any suggestions would be appreciated, didn't plan on getting rich, just was gonna try sell a few to contribute to my daughters health expenses.

    Thanks again

  8. Hello,

I have a website up and running, have many categories of images, and online store to sell prints, photo cards etc.

I have and continue to pay several SEO's for promoting my site. The clicks and impressions (hits) have been dismal,

at best 3-6 a week). Most images are keyworded. I continue to ad images weekly.

My question is this: Should I require, as some sites do, the visitor to registor/sign in when they visit? This is a turn

off to some but in the business sense it provides a client contact list to send reduced price events, special offers etc.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Doug

  9. Vista system, PSE06, Lightroom2, Canon Pixma printer (iP4920)

I can print fromLR2, from Windows Live Photo Gallery, but when I go to print from PSE06 it says "PSE06 has

encountered a problem and will close"...

I removed PSE06 from the system twice, reloaded it twice and both times I open PSE06 and all my images are there

as if nothing happened? I saved all images to Ext. drive. so I thought ok remove the program, reinstall, re-import

images, but they are already there, so I am really confused here, 1) a printing problem and 2) the photos show there

even tho I removed the program twice.

    Any advice.

    Best regards,

    Doug

  10. Interesting comments, and thanks for taking time to respond.

I love these forums and it shows that there is a multitude of knowledge available and it is appreciated that folks like you reply and offer help.

I don't have a watermark on my images, tried to develop one through the PSE06 program, actually made and saved an embossed type watermark but couldn't get the darn thing imposed on the images.

My images are registered with US copyright office, I paid to have that done.

BTW Charles, Rob and Gary, great images at the bottom here.

  11. I have a website developed for the purpose of showing my photos and possibly selling a few.

I currently have a copyright notification there: "All images posted herein are Copyright protected by US copyright

registration. Any use by any means without the prior written and expressed consent from the photographer is strictly

prohibited". "All Rights Reserved". I was wondering if the images are websized, 100Kb or less, most are around

70kb, can that image be manipulated to a suitable degree for someone to actually use it? My understanding was

such a web sized image could be downloaded, but not enlarged, enhanced etc and still have a suitable image of

    useable resolution.

I know it doesn't hurt to have it there but realistically why take up valuable space on several pages for copyright

notices if the images are not likely to be manipulated and useable?

    Thanks for response.

    Doug
