  1. Out of curiosity, what type of film was this?

I've tried to intentionally reticulate Tri-X before, and found that it basically took going from close to boiling to near freezing to do it, or in other words a temperature change that you'd have to intentionally do.

On the other hand, even a 10ºC change in temperature can reticulate a lot of old films, or old technology films. Efke, which is no longer produced, would reticulate fairly easily much to my dismay.

That’s wild — it was TriX. And the shop said it was part of a batch, waiting to hear back if other rolls had the same issue. They were kind enough to refund the processing cost and a fresh roll.

  2. Just got some negatives back from the lab, and the scans have some issues I haven't encountered before. Maybe it's something completely obvious that I'm not thinking of, brittle film, too aged? Any ideas welcome. Would love to avoid in the future. Thank you.

I've attached a close up of an image, showing the issues. Each image has these same aberrations.

  3. <p>Hello hello,<br>

I received some terrible news after moving to a new house. <br>

Somehow a bottle of linseed oil spilled on an open binder with negatives in plastic sheets.<br>

Luckily it seems as though only a few of the negatives on each sheet are damaged, but it still is rather devastating.<br>

I know it's a long shot, but writing to see if anyone has any potential cures or fixes for this to get rid of the linseed oil which has became somewhat gel like on the negs.<br>

Any and all thoughts welcome (unless it's to remind me how big of an eff up this is, I know!) :(<br>

    <br />Thanks all!</p>

  4. <p>i figure the flash would be mainly for portraits... head and shoulder portraits. <br>

for other shots, i would most likely use natural light. <br>

i guess i'm confused, how is a 180mm lens NOT good for portraits? and, why do they need to be vertical? </p>

  5. <p>Apologies, let me elaborate:<br>

Mostly would use for portraits, mostly out of studio. I'm thinking maybe handle mounted may be the best, due to the overall robustness of the camera to begin with.<br>

Any others out there I should look for? I'm new to flashes... :)</p>

  6. <p>Ebay is indeed the place. I lucked out and got a complete set 65, 100, 150, 180 for a phenomenal price. :)<br>

Just gotta stay away from LuckyCat... that fool is exorbitant. <br>

Now the question is... where is the 50mm lens...? :)</p>

  7. <p>Hi all,<br>

I was fortunate enough to find a G690 for sale with the AE 100mm lens. Now, I'm hooked! And, am furiously searching for more lenses.<br>

I generally search eBay, but it has been somewhat fruitless and/or seemingly over priced. <br>

Any suggestions out there? In particular, lenses longer than the 100mm? <br>

    Much appreciated.<br>

    Thank you!</p>

  8. I truly would love to find a Fuji(ca) G690, the G, GL or BL or whatever incarnation as long as it has

    interchangeable lenses.

I've tried the used camera shops with no luck.

    Any advice?

And, what do they usually go for, say with the standard 100mm lens, used but in good cond?

    Cheers!

  9. Hi all...

I was hoping if someone out there might be able to help me. I have a Contax T, which is in great shape

except for the small fact that the door lock is missing.

Anyone experience this? Any remedies? Or, where can I find a replacement lock or if I have to, a door?!

Thanks in advance, any advice is welcomed.

  10. I know...

    I know...

This question has been asked a million times, and it really depends on what I want to

    use the camera for.

I'd easily get a Mamiya 6 or 7, but the lack of a plethora of lenses leaves me wanting

something else. But, the portability is nice as I like to take street shots and bring the

    camera for travelling.

Was also thinking of getting a Hasselblad with a prism, but unsure if I should go for

the 500, 501, 503 cmxtmx, etc... you know?

I'd like to spend no more than $1500 and try to get a body with 2 lenses.

I also feel like the 6x7, being rectangular, would be my ideal choice...

Any advice? cameras I haven't mentioned that I should have? Where to look? (ebay,

    b&h, keh etc)

In an ideal world, I would like the 35mm equivalent of a ~55mm, ~85mm and

    ~105mm lens...
