1.
Had this problem many times, security doesn't have a clue as to rules and neither do the front office.
Concerts say no "pro" gear, usually say no detachable lenses.
As my son pointed out last summer to a security guard, "with enough force, ANY lens is detachable".
At an Alice Cooper concert, the security said I could bring in my 400 5.6 since the big end wasn't larger than a fist.
I took that same 400 to a Buffalo Sabres game, no problem.
I think they've since changed the rules and it wouldn't get in the door now.

My pose for soccer. I shoot the local league, 350 kids. If the older teams have a designated goalie I shoot

them kneeling and holding the ball. I shoot before practice, 5-7 p.m. Four to six teams per night, it takes two

full weeks to do the league. A single "Photo Day" is out of the question, all three age groups play at the same

    time at three field locations.

  3. You'd have to shoot 70 games to get each team once. This is a one weekend event? How many fields are involved, how far apart, how on earth are you going to cover this with only one or two photographers? Matt raises good points. If you are just doing this as documentation, it wouldn't be too hard. Anything else could be a freaking nightmare, or a sure way to work your a$$ off and not make diddly for the effort.
  4. Gord, thanks for the response. I tried your suggestion, still no go. It just hangs the comp. up "preparing file for editing". Doesn't matter if the file copy will be jpg or psd. I've downloaded and reinstalled this numerous times, same story. Are there maybe common files that I should have removed manually? I seem to remember seeing something about that, maybe it wasn't this app.
  5. Not to be ugly about the "saved" shot, but who would buy that? Unless you have a sports bar that needs generic baseball art, it's pretty much time you could have spent working on other pics. I've been doing sports action for years and some of the comments I hear are ridiculous regarding images. I'd hate to think about the comments if I had that in with my game shots. People can be really picky when money is involved. I like the effect, might try it with a personal shot, but not to sell as "action". The headless umpire is distracting too.
  6. Been doing this for 22 years. We use a log sheet and write every frame we shoot. I use Sport Stars lab in PA. They have a ROES setup for your orders. Good price for products, GREAT customer service and support. Lots of companies now bar code their envelopes, too expensive for me. I pay my brother $20 per hour to handle the details when I do leagues. He's worth every bit.
  7. I have had a problem with Lightroom and noone has been able to help me. I can send the original image or a copy from LR to CS3. When I try to send a copy with LR adjustments, it hangs up. I've even left it on overnight but it still will say "preparing file for editing". Anyone?
  8. All well and good. The worst part of this story hasn't been told here. It was Tiger's comments on the next hole about (paraphrased here, don't go flaming for accuracy)"the next guy who shoots during my effn back swing will get his effn neck broken" And didn't Tiger's caddy toss a camera in a water hazard a few years ago? If Tiger were smart, he'd pay someone to stand behind him at the driving range and fire burst after burst while Tiger hits balls off the tee. Next time it wouldn't disturb him so badly. Good thing it wasn't a woman with allergies sneezing. No telling what he'd do for that.
  9. Yeah rules are rules, but Tiger blaming the photog for him being so off on his swing? Spare me. It wasn't like the ball moved. I love watching Tiger play, but this is ridiculous. And yes, I golf. Reminds me of the idiot golfer who killed the hawk in Florida because it screeched while he was taping a TV show. Prima donna.
